I've been bit by the CZ bug and am anxiously waiting to buy either a CZ P-01, P-02 (P-01 w/ an Omega trigger system), or a 75D.

==P-01 & P-02==
Light rail
Standard CZ sights
No loaded magazine indicator
Rubber mag base plate
Slightly heavier

==75D==
No light rail
Novak sights
Loaded magazine indicator
Flat (flush) mag base plate
Slightly lighter

I know the P-01 and 75D have been in production for a while, where the P-02 Omega was released this year (although it's not in their catalog). The Omega trigger system has fewer parts (easier disassembly), but is not compatible with the .22 conversion kit (which I wouldn't use anyway).

I feel like these guns are VERY similar and one of them might reach its end-of-life. I don't want to get caught buying something that doesn't exist in a year and I can't get manufacturer's parts for. Do you think the introduction of the P-02 will mean the P-01 or 75D is going away?

I'd suggest you try dry firing a 75 or other CZ with the old style action and then the Omega. While the Omega does smoothen out a bit with use there's no comparison at all between new guns. The old style wins hands down for trigger feel.

I don't know what you'll be using the gun for but there's simply no way that the all metal CZ's are going anywhere any time soon. They are just too good and too classic a gun to see them dissapear. The SP-01 Shadow is a huge seller thanks to it's IPSC use. And that isn't going to go away any time soon. And the 75/85 all metal platform in all its variations is a solid performer with an avid fan base. So as long as it sells they won't ditch the platform any time soon.

Good point, it is a classic. I've shot the 75B before, never a compact though. This will be my new CCW.

Did some more research on that Omega trigger and it looks like it's only marketed in Europe. It's rumored that CZ will be transitioning to them and the only place you can find one in America is here:

I wonder if it's a "legit" Omega or a custom modification to be "like" an Omega.

They're not leaving. The CZ-75 is on par with High-Powers and serves much the same niche, and they obviously haven't gone the way of the dodo.

Not sure about the Omega, but I love my 75D PCR. I think the double-action leaves a little to be desired, but then again I haven't done a trigger job and the only other DA I'm used to is a very nice S&W 586, so I may just be spoiled.

The CZ75 going away? BAAA-HA-HAHAHA! Not until metal-framed guns become illegal. If you don't have some 75 variant, get one. The CZ75 SA is a personal favorite.

I have 3 9MM's, CZ PO1, Ruger SR9, and a G17... my favorite and most accurate is the CZ....

You may not be able to get the Omega 75's in the US but AFAIK the P-01's are all Omega actions. The one I've shot on and off here and there is the one at a rental gun outfit I work for here and there when they need some extra help. It was quite horrible at first but with quite a few thousand rounds downrange and being cleaned many times it's smoothened up nicely. It's still not as nice as my well broken in standard actions in my two all metal CZ's.

Being as it's going to be a carry piece I can certainly understand why you're looking at going with polymer. If I were allowed to carry up in this part of the world I'd have a whole different outlook on polymer guns. But for us handguns are range toys. So all metal is just fine and I prefer them.

I'll definitely put in a +1 for the P01, I've had mine for quite a while and it just plain shoots. The ergos are some of the best I've felt in any pistol, and for being a compact, it's pretty accurate.

If you're planning on concealing, I highly recommend it. I can pretty much carry mine no matter what I'm wearing, and do it comfortably.

I do plan on getting a full sized 75, but probably won't conceal it much.

viking,
You say the Kadet Kit 2 will work on the non-Omega; will the Kadet Kit work on the Omega? If the 2 works on both, one would assume cZ will drop the original Kit.

I own a P07 which has the omega trigger and I have to say I prefer it to the CZ 75s trigger. The CZ 75 has a good trigger when you consider the price of the gun but once you break that omega trigger in it's just so damn nice in SA. DA is always "meh" but who cares about the DA pull anyway.

FWIW, I consider the absence of a rail a selling point, particularly for a carry gun. Unless you're going to actually hang a light or laser off it, rails just add bulk and some additional snag points. I love rails on long guns, but it drives me nuts how eager the manuf's are to put them on pistols. It's especially offensive on guns with nice lines, like the CZ's or 1911's.
