hi, I just wanted to start trading info on the amazing firearms(my favorite handgun)
I live in portland, OR. some infor may be specific to lacation.
for starters my round of choice in these guns is the makarov. which is a difficult little thing to come by, but, I may have actually gotten walmart to start carrying these, at least eastport walmart here in portland. I have another portland vendor with amazing prices(especially on thousand round cases) let me know.
also, I know there is a some number of people that want rubber grips for these, the answer, pachmeyr cz 75 grips, fit exactly right, I am 6'10'' and the grip is as comfortable as can be.
I have many times seen posts mentioning cz only offers the 83 in 32acp now, but, I called them and they actually do carry all three versions still and they said they intend to keep making parts and whole guns. he said I should easily be capable of keeping my gun going for the rest of my life.
now, a matter I would like an opinion on, I have currently a surplus 82, seen in damn fine condition minus holster wear....now, for less than an 83 new would have cost, do you think I can get this in just as good of condition? I have seen restored lugers look like fress out of the factory guns, will this cost me a deal with the devil, or...?
let me know if you need help with anything cz 82 or sar k2...I am resourceful, persistant, and passionate about the things I take interest in, share my interests-share my passion.

I put on a Houge slip on rubber grip last night. Feels OK, but the fit is a bit sloppy at the back down low. I'll know better when I get to shoot it.

I also added a couple of Beretta magazine base plates recently. They fit perfectly and added a little bit more purchase for my pinky.

I have an 82, and I have the wrap around on a CZ clone...I'll give this a shot and let you know, but I would be really shocked if it works.

Well, it's the hogue wrap around 75 grips that I have, but that wasn't even close to fitting. He has to be talking about one of those rubber slip over grips

the pachmeyr slip over, sorry...yeah, no actual fixed wrap around, but, the pachmeyr cz 75 slip over works amazingly I will post a picture, I prefer a well fitting slip over to fixed on, it is too snug to even move when I want to, so, it not going anywhere on its own.
sorry for the mix up...if I find any fixed I will let you know, I am going to see about submitting a request for some a few plce, with the design of the grips being pron to cracking, I am really trying to find some aluminum grips to put my slip on over, that would be ideal for me, but, I do think they need to more options.....

haha, I was considering my desert eagle conceal carry options lol....but a bazooka thats....something I oughta be thinking about...lol

by the way. glad to see this thread get some attention, I have had good luck in the past getting the ball rolling on things like this. this gun deserves the attention. haha, the round to....I don't want 9x18s to be so expensive and hard to find the community behind them needs to be a little louder.
anyone in need of a cz82/83 shoulder holster, they are having a pretty decent deal over at czs webstore

9x18 is a solid round, and the CZ 82 is the most accurate platform that I personally have ever shot for the 9x18. I reaload all the 9x18 I shoot. I cut down some of my 9x19 to 9x18 to get brass. Berry's makes an excellent plinker projectile and I have some Hornady XTP's that would make swell SD rounds.

I tend to favor wood over rubber on smaller pistols.
The factory plastic grips on my CZ83 were horrible!
Slick, hard to maintain a consistent grip, etc.
I ordered a set of factory walnuts from CZ-USA, they have been an excellent choice for me.

One of these days I will cross paths with a CZ82 9mm Makarov in a condition that interests me and I will add it to my collection of CZ firearms.

I also think it is the best 9mm Makarov pistol on the market.
The .32 acp is pretty darned good too:)

i believe it is the best 9mm mak as well, further I would say (for me at least) it is the best sub 9x19 carry gun a person can own at all. I have something I would like to ask of the fine people here at THR that share my love of this gun. I recieved an email back from a company that makes some inexpensive high quality aluminum grips. I haven't gotten much back from people directly as to weather those would be appreciated; but, if so, this is the email "Kaz
Thank you for your interest in our product. We have discussed making the CZ 83 grips in the past but have never had enough interest expressed to cover the programming, tooling and set up costs of going into production."
and my response
"I will do my best to post online and see if I can get a voice behind the opinion, I know there are more than enough people out there...it is one of the most commonly discussed topics regarding the cz 82/83 that the grips are fairly week, between the plastic and the wood grips....it doesn't appear almost anyone has come across an answer to a stronger grip, truly it is the only apparent design flaw in the firearm, I will begin posting, and see if I can get some more messages sent your way, please email me back if that will actually help the cause. thank you very much for responding. it means a lot to me to see a company listening and responding to the kinds of inquiries." if anyone can contribute to the cause and get some emails sent there way, we may have another viable grip option, I personally would like aluminum best, as far as in gun application, I think aluminum does its best as a grip option as a whole. thank you all very much, surely I will make time to post this elsewhere as well.

also, remember that if you you have difficulty finding fair priced 9mm mak, call your local walmart customer relations line, I have gotten my call back already regarding the fact that my local walmart is in the process of adding it to there order sheets. and that was when just I called. so, call, have your friends call....walmart is a wonderful place to get inexpensive rounds. which just makes everyones shooting experience that much more fun.
thank you guys for supporting this thread. those pictures are some very beautiful czs by the way. I will be looking into getting my 82 cerakoted soon as possible, if anyone knows a good place I would love some leads.

My only concern with aluminum is that such grips tend to be pretty expensive--and will likely be more than half the cost of the pistol itself.

That said, the stock grips are way wider than they need to be. For those interested in CC'ing the weapon, you can get grips down to barely over an inch. I suspect aluminum or any other metal will allow grips even thinner.

My CZ Mak had really horrible scratched up grips. I took them off and used light sprays of bedliner to "clean them up". Gives a great gripping surface too. Also be aware that CZ USA has tritium sights for this pistol. They work great.

Being a giant, you do get some options that us short people dont get. (im a scant 6 foot)

If you are going to carry the weapon,
You may want to look at some of the offerings from SIG, at your heigth you could probably
Conceal a SIG226 with ease.

Because of my shortness, i sold my 226, and now have an M&P 45 compact........

The CZ82 is a fantastic pistol, i thought about carrying one, but didnt because they were too heavy for a questionable bullet. I did some research and it looks many of the bullet manufacturers have stopped carrying 9x18 or dont offer it(Corbon DPX, others) JHP.

The ballistic tests that i saw also showed a bullet that didnt reliably expand.

A bullet that acts like an FMJ, could easily pass throug a BG and hit an innocent.

You may want to do your own tests shooting in to phone books, to see if your choice of JHP reliably expands

the aluminum grips from them run right around 50 buck, thats why I chose them, lots of options as well, as far as what I want to carry because of my size, I find the cz pefect because, well, it looks like nothing no matter wear I have it, as for sig, I love there guns, but, they are expensive and I think there are options still that outperform in the size weight ranges, cz, sarsilmaz, baby eagle....
as for the round, studies I have done and research I have taken to, and recreated, actually, with all my guns I generally prefer fmjs, call me crazy, call me a blasphemer, but...I have my reasons. not looking to argue, but, mind all the research you find. common sense usually yields the greatest answers. specifically though, buffalo bore make 115 grain hard cast lead +p 9x18 maks, all theyre testing was done with cz 82/83s.
as for ammo for the gun, its supply and demand, which is my exact point here, is that I think if the community behind the cz 82 speaks u a little, we can get the re-popularized. there are plenty of amazing rounds in fmj, jhp, whatever you are looking for. making them commonplace, thats something I would really like to see. as posted, my local walmart is placing them on there order sheets, and thats just because I...one single person asked, what if ten people asked? one hundred?
the gun is my intended carry gun as an armed security officer, as well as my roomate. it will also be my backup when I become a police officer, hopefully it will come with me into the national gaurd as an mp.
back on the grips. well, aluminum would solve all problems with the grips besides maybe not being rubber...which I intend to solv with my pachmeyr. 50 bucks is a small price to pay for the last set of grips I will ever need.
keep up the posts. and if I say anything anyone wants to post anywhere else, feel free to take it.
