After much research on the 9x18mak round, I finally decided to get an 82. I'm in contact with one of the online distributors to try and coordinate with my ffl to get one sent over. There was a gun show this weekend where i got to handle two of them. That pretty much sealed the deal! I plan to do a restoration/ customization on it. I'm not concerned about resale value because once this gun comes home with me, its not for sale. I'm looking for good options on refinishing the slide that aren't going to break the bank and that I can do myself. thanks guys!

dude you're 6'10"? why even bother with compacts at that size? lol. you can carry a full size duty pistol as easily as regular folks can carry a compact.

eh, not sure why you're going to put all that effort into a cheap gun, especially if you're going to carry it. '82s are sweet no doubt, but they don't need any work. shoot it, carry it, enjoy, call it a day.

buffalo bore makes some seriously hot rodded 9x18 that's safe in a cz-82. i'd get some of that for carry purposes. it's almost on par with standard pressure 9mm.

Being a giant, you do get some options that us short people dont get. (im a scant 6 foot)

If you are going to carry the weapon,
You may want to look at some of the offerings from SIG, at your heigth you could probably
Conceal a SIG226 with ease.

Because of my shortness, i sold my 226, and now have an M&P 45 compact........

The CZ82 is a fantastic pistol, i thought about carrying one, but didnt because they were too heavy for a questionable bullet. I did some research and it looks many of the bullet manufacturers have stopped carrying 9x18 or dont offer it(Corbon DPX, others) JHP.

The ballistic tests that i saw also showed a bullet that didnt reliably expand.

A bullet that acts like an FMJ, could easily pass throug a BG and hit an innocent.

You may want to do your own tests shooting in to phone books, to see if your choice of JHP reliably expands
wat? due to cheap soviet surplus, 9x18 is more popular than ever, and there are more commercial loadings than ever. hornady, corbon and others make modern 9x18 jhp loads.

i've carried my cz-82 before. 9x18 may not have the best ballistics out there, but they're not awful, and i hit what i'm aiming at with that cz-82. a hit with a 9x18 beats a miss with a 45.

Im a tinker-er by nature. I want it to look as good as it shoots! I don't plan on carrying it much if at all, I've got my carry pieces. This will be my range queen and nightstand gun.
