Limited experience - I have owned a Russian Makarov in the past and I am sorry I let it go a few years back. Great shooter - never malfunctioned. Just a well designed solid gun. Easy to carry.
Last Wednesday I picked up a CZ- 83 in .380. It is supposed to be a civilian copy of the CZ 82. Mine was in like new condition from Cole Distributers for $230 plus shipping. The final finish on the CZ 83 is definitely better than my Makarov had. It has a double stack magazine so it is a little heavier, little thicker. Still a good size for carry. Very comfortable grip and points naturally. The double action trigger is one of the best I have found on any DA/SA semi-auto. I fired it Thursday after-noon and it was nothing short of great. I was key-holing shots at 30 feet!!! Recoil was comfortable and it shot flawless with both Winchester Talon hollow point, and FMJ. It does not have a decocking mechanism, which is about the only detractor I have with the gun.
I have read some posts where owners have had some failure to feed problems with the CZs. It does not appear to be that common and when it does occur, most of the time it is the magazine. Seems there are some mags out there that have the lips too far apart on them. I probably read close to 150 posts on different sites and the majority (90+%) are very positive.
I have been on the internet throughout the weekend and one thing I am finding right now, is that production made leather concealment holsters are difficult to find listed for these guns. It appears there are some that will interchange, and one can always go the custom made route.
So far I have been really impressed with the CZ quality. Lot of bang for the buck!!!
