I purchased a stainless Barstow CZ 82 .380 extended threaded barrel on gunbroker back a while ago. Id like to install it on my CZ 82 but have a few questions.

About 10 years ago I swapped out a Makarov barrel but I had a barrel vice I purchased (no longer have it). Does anyone know if there are barrel vices available for a CZ 82 or if I could use a Makarov barrel vice?

Not too worried about stripping the gun down to the frame. Ive done it before with a Makarov and didn't have any problems so I think I can pull off the CZ 82. Anyone here done this before and have any advice?'

Thanks, Dan

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately the pictures don't load anymore but it gave me some good ideas.

Ok so I got the CZ 83 all taken apart. Its down to the frame, barrel and barrel pin. The barrel is press fit into the receiver and then the barrel is pinned into the receiver. Once i got the gun all taken apart I thought I was home free.

I put the stripped receiver onto a block of wood i have holes drilled in for pin removal. First I hit the barrel pin a few times with a proper size punch from my starrett punch set. After a few good whacks nothing moved. I then got out my cheap sacrificial punches which is a mix of miscelaneous punches I've acquired over the years. After heating with a propane torch i went at it again with the cheap punch. Within 15 seconds I had bent the punch and it hadn't moved at all.

I trimmed down the punch and ground it flat on a bench grinder and turned it into a short stubby starter punch. after positining the block of wood in my bench vise I put the short stubby punch on the pin and tightened it down. I cranked on it pretty hard. Hard enough that I put on safety glasses (a rarity for me). Then with safety glasses on I cranked even harder! still no luck. It didn't move at all!!!

Next I got out a piece of galvanized water pipe to give me more leverage. Then I asked myself it this is really a good idea. To which I said "probably not"!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks, Dan

No. its just a straight pin. Im going to take it to a machine shop tomorrow and see if they can press it out with an arbor press or something.

Ill keep you posted.
