Cz-82: yes or no?

Unfortunately she has mentioned several times about wanting me to paint a gun pink for her

I bet if you'll do a little research, you'll be able to find a shade of that faint pink color that the British military toyed with around 1950. It was demonstrated to be the best camouflage scheme for the desert, but overruled because pink was a "woman's color." Such a faint pink could appease her and prevent you from throwing up.

Furthermore, when I was recently looking at one, the guy said I could take the frame off and literally spray paint it and I'd be surprised at how well it turns out.

Yes without question.

Got mine through Wideners.com and very pleased with it's condition, cosmetically and functionally.

Shot it yesterday and it's just a great little pistol for the price.

.... I wish.... She is dead set on the most gawdawful brightest shade of pink she can find.. I'm assuming to mess with me. Gotta love women...

Um NEW guns in 9mak are being made, it's still the issue arm of a number of countries.
I think ammo is good for at least the next while.

Definitely YES!! But be careful, CZ's tend to multiply. I started with an 82 and a 52 and now I have a 75b with Kadet kit, a P-07 and a 97b and I'm eyeballing a PCR,

Buy it and don't look back. Mine is one of the best ccw guns I have ever owned at any price. 100% reliable and very accurate and easy to shoot.

Ofercryinoutloud. Insult, meet injury.

Yes, I got one for the wife and fell in love with it myself, already have plans to get a second one just for me. You will not regret it. Plus if you don't like it I will buy it.

Sweet, cheap, ambidextrous pistol. Built to last. It is easy to take down. The biggest drawback is looks. Most that I have seen have chipped paint from holster use unless they have been refinished.

The more I look at it, the more I want one NOW.... Unfortunately I do not have the means atm.
Looking at the build odf the gun, what do yall think about an O.D. green frame with a black upper? I think it would look pretty good myself.

There is a very large Russian 9x18 fan base out here. Many people have found out that the Makarov PM and Makarov 9x18 chambered pistols are excellent pistols such as the CZ 82. The true Mak and Polish P64 or Hungarian version have been a selected CCW gun for a long long time now. They are far better made than Bersa, Taurus and all the other low end stuff coming into this country.

Reliable, accurate, sweeter DA/SA trigger than just about everything on the market today, cheap ammo (that's new production, so no worries about it running out), easy to maintain, small enough to carry. Heck, cz will even service it for you if it breaks (which is unlikely anyway).

By far, the most pistol you can get for $200.

Wonderful pistols. I have two. Cheap, well made, fairly accurate, button release hi-cap magazine, three-dot-sight, nice trigger pull. Now the downside: big and heavy as compared to other 9x18 pistols. Many in the more powerful 9x19 are available in the same size. And the safety. That "cock and lock" safety is worthless. The pistol would be a better product without it. New thread; how many cz-82 owners ever use the safety? However, the good aspects far outweigh the bad. Don't get one, get two.

A quick question. Harmon rabb says that cz usa will fix these old import pistols under warranty. They will fix this 169.00 pistol from a wholesaler for free? Why don't the wholesalers use this as a sales point? And could'nt I just buy a u-fix-um from Century for cheap and have them repair it? If so, another reason for the op to buy the pistol.

no, CZ won't fix them for FREE. you have to pay. but they will fix them and have the parts for them.

sorry for any misunderstandings.

Somehow I feel a consensus forming here!!

Great pistola... go for it!

.

One fast warning, they are great guns shoot well and very dependable, but if you ever tear one all the way down to refinish it be prepared to spend some time trying to put it back together. Now if you just field strip for cleaning then the come apart easy and go back together just fine.

That "cock and lock" safety is worthless. The pistol would be a better product without it. New thread; how many cz-82 owners ever use the safety?

I have circumstantial evidence that the Czechs didn't carry them cocked-and-locked: mine came with a thumb-break holster, and when the pistol is cocked, you can't close the thumb-break. It won't reach because the hammer is in the way.

IMO, the safety is there in case you want to pause while firing but don't want to de-cock. I have used it for that. Case closed? I doubt it. I'm sure there's somebody out there who carries it cocked-and-locked and can make a good case for that.

harmon rabb, just because a company has parts for a pistol does not mean they are under warranty. tovio, if the "safetys" on those pistols are not worthless, why are they not used on other guns? TWO new threads:do you ever use the safety on your cz-82 and have you ever owned/heard of another common pistol that uses the same safety? Oh, and OP, still buy two.
