I really like the CZ 82. It has a very good trigger. I prefer the double action pull to that of the sigs I've owned/shot. It has a very good single action pull. It has a nice set of features. For the money, I paid like $160, for mine it may just be the best gun out there. I really wish there was a good (non wood, these are known to crack) think grips out there for it. The grips get in my way when I go for the mag release.
However, if one is willing to spend slightly more it is easy to have guns that best it in many ways. The CZ-82 is not a small gun. It is larger than my Glock 26. The G26 nearly matches its ammoe capacity and on can easily carry a 15 or 17 round mag as an extra magazine. The glock shoots a more powerful round and is a softer shooting gun. There is also a much wider array of quality self defense ammo available in 9x19. I've used my glock for reference but I could name a number of other 9mm guns which are smaller than the CZ and yet very capable weapons.
I like my CZ; I like it a lot. I think it is an incredible value. I believe it could be used to good effect as a self defense weapon. However, if one is looking to get a smaller weapon for concealed carry I'm not sure I would go that route. It is not much smaller or easier to carry than even a glock 19 and it is larger than a G26, or kahr's K9, P9, CW9, to say nothing of the MK, PM, or CM guns. In sum, it is a great gun but not my first choice for a carry gun.
