Hello Gentlemen, does any one have any mechanical knowledge about a commercially made CZ 98 in 6.5x55 Imported by Springfield Armory in 1995 called the Classic Hunter? My specific issue is that the bolt shroud seems to pop out of place when the bolt is cycled, with the bolt shroud remaining 1/4 of an inch off of the bolt. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I can't really be any help, but im curious.

How does it attach? Kinda just looks like a cover that might clip or was soldered on.

The cover pushes out of place when the action is cycled, and then does not return.

Ensure the chamber is empty then pull the trigger and see if it returns.

OK, this model has me stumped. I found a few more photos, including a close up of the receiver markings:

Now I'm really confused, since my understanding was that the CZ Strakonice factory concentrated on motorcycles and heavy equipment rather than rifles these days -- as opposed to CZ Uherský Brod. Presumably it was manufactured in late 1995, since I can't find this rifle mentioned in the 1995 Radix book Czech Firearms and Ammunition.

The action is clearly a variation on the Mauser 98, but the rear of the bolt assembly is unusual.

I cannot see the lump on the right side of the sleeve for Mauser's sleeve lock, which is there to keep the rear bits from accidentally rotating when the bolt is out of the receiver. So something's clearly different.

Could you take the bolt apart and photograph the components, or at least take a photo of the bolt from several angles with the sleeve removed?
