And a crap battle trigger.
Really, when did you try a BREN? What else did you like or dislike about it? I handled one at SHOT 2015, and the trigger seemed OK to me, but I'm not a high speed/low drag operator, just a fat old Navy vet from when we used M-14s.
I didn't get to the range that day - did you go to SHOT 2016 and try the BREN 805 Carbine on Media Range Day?
A couple of people who shot it said it was the smoothest shooting rifle they had ever tried;

...so I look forward to see if that's true, and you're right, they really will have to be top notch to beat out the ubiquitous 53 year old AR-15. Hopefully it won't have the one thing that turned me off the AR when I shot the M-16A1 back in 1984 - that dadgum SPROINNNNGGG in my ear from every shot. Hated that, never picked up another AR style rifle after that. Nothing wrong with the rifle at all, wouldn't have survived in military service this long if it wasn't reliable, durable, and accurate, it just didn't fit ME, that's all.
What is it that one guy said, the AR-15 is the Barbie Doll for men, with all the ten thousand accessories that are available to dress it up with? You don't get that kind of support if your product sucks, that is for darn certain.

New rifle with a "two ARs" price tag. Cool deal.
Would be nice to get it down cheaper over time, and if the 806 comes in, that might happen,(less machining), but for now, same tag as a Tavor and less than a SCAR.

t's just another cool, exotic foreign battle rifle that will have it's fair share of fanboys. But when the dust settles, the AR will still be here, rockin' it.
Never said it wouldn't, after all, the AR-15 qualifies for curio and relic status being for sale for so long.
Guys, I never said the BREN 805 will be a "threat" to the AR-15, or its legion of followers, or the zillions of aftermarket parts and manufacturers, just saying that this particular rifle, that I, personally, have been interested in for some time, having actually handled one, is finally coming in to the US.
Same as I like some other exotics like the almost vaporware KelTec 308 RFB, and the oddball HK vP70z.
It's all personal likes/dislikes. Have a great day, and if I manage to acquire one, I'll post up photos and videos for those who want to see, or want to throw stones.
