Now proud to say the Mighty MO!
I just called CZUSA to ask about availablity of the Dan Wesson 1911s. She told me the .45s were already out and the 10's would be along in January. I haven't seen any traffic about these? Anybody had their hands on a new CZ/DW 1911?

great. If anybody has any hands on experience please let me know, I'm curious what the fit and finish/qualty looks like and if it's changed now that they're under cz I'm thinking about the 10mm

I have a DW Patriot Commander BobTail in 10mm and it is one of my favorite guns for carry and range shooting. The fit and finish are outstanding - just a beautiful gun! It is very, very accurate, handles a variety of 10mm cartridges of varying makes and configurations, including handloads, recoil is very easily managed, it carries well in my Versa Max, and I have shot 1000's of rounds through it without a single problem. I recently used it in an LFI-II class and it was flawless.

When I originally ordered it about a year ago I spoke directly to Bob Serva and asked for a few mods, including ambi-safeties, and he couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Obviously, I highly recommend their products!

They have a new 10mm longslide coming out after the first of the year, "The Global Hunter".

They're really nice, I got the chance to fire one a few months ago.

Is Bob Serva still involved with DW under the new managment?

Yes.

He's even made an appearance on the Dan Wesson part of the 1911 forums.

I just picked up a pre-CZ Dan Wesson form CDNN. Even for the lower end model it's real nice. I had it at the range the other day and a guy was looking it over so I let him shoot it. When he got done he said compared to his Kimbers that had 4lbs triggers it felt like my DW had a about 2lbs trigger from the factory.

If I ever have a chance to pick up another DW I'm going to do so.

I've done a few mods to it since I got it, like put on some thin Coco Bolo grips, swapped an arched metal MSH for a flat plastic one. I also put on an extended mag release with an oversize button on it and chopped it so it would hug the frame more. Then I installed a mid-extended slide stop and and a Wilson extended slim thumb safety that I'm going to reshape to match the slide stop's shape. Then I'm going to have it chromed or two toned after Christmas. The gun was just fine like it was, but I can't stand having something as customizable as a 1911 and not giving it a little bit of personality  .

The Patriot line is a very very very nice line of guns....especially the Bobtailed Commander......:D Any gun that comes with a target, shot from a ransom rest of course, thats less than 1" from 25yds is a very very worthy gun. For less than 900$ you get a gun that shoots like a wilson/baer/so on......

I dont see how they can be questionable.....................make sense?

Shoot well

2 Words about Dan Wesson:

"They're Grrrrrrreat!"

(that works for Frosted Flakes too... :D).

I've loved my DW PM1-S since the day I got it, and just got a PT-CBOB that I have to wait until Christmas day to actually shoot...

There's some pics of my DWs up here if you're interested in some closeups that show fit & finish, etc. The PM1-S is wearing black Alumagrips now but otherwise looks the same.

If you're considering a DW, my advice is buy one :)

Oh yea they are great. I have one I bought new a while back. Back then I paid about 475 new. I could not belive the price on it. It just seemed to little for what you get. The craftsman ship was incredible. At the time no one knew who they were.Closest thing I think to a custom gun . All forged no mim and the grips are incredible. The sweetest trigger and very very acurate. I love to shoot it alot !! Id buy one if you have the chance. Not sure how the new cz ones are because i dont think to many people have one yet ?

There are several DW models for sale in both .45 and 10mm on GunBroker and GunsAmerica - prices range from about $500.00 - $1000.00, with 10mm typically being on the high end.
