I have just purchased my first CZ. I plan on making the SP01 my Nightstand gun. It comes with night sights and 18 round mags (9mm). The fit and finish of the gun I find to be under valued compared to more expensive guns that are no better or for that matter not as good. The CT green laser/100 lumen light will be going on it. I just got it home so I have not had the chance yet to see if it is as good a
shooter as so many others have said.
What has been your experience with the SP01 or other CZ's for that matter?

In short, fantastic nightstand gun.

Longer version......

CZ makes a lot of reasonably priced guns with very nice fit and finish for what you are paying. Great products.

I also own a CZ P-09, which I do use as my night stand gun. 18 in the mag & 1 in the tube, ready to go! CZ handguns are so far underrated, that it's a joke. I have put about 500 rounds through this one, without a single hiccup, no issues of any kind. Although I am primarily a 1911 Guy, I do love my CZ P-09.

Do they make different versions of the P09 mags? Mine are 19.

I would like to find a SP-01 , I haven't seen one in a while . It will make a fine nightstand gun .

I think that's an excellent choice as a first CZ handgun (or as an only one if it were to work out that way). I'm going to predict that it won't be your last CZ. And I'll also warn you that the CZ rifles are just as addictive, if not more so. :)

I think that will be a great setup. I highly recommend you add this kit to it: https://cajungunworks.com/product/54420-ultra-lite/
Being a nightstand gun you'll want to stick with the HS-13 spring, but still it'll noticeably improve the DA trigger and also the SA.

My experience has been that since I bought my first (85 Combat, now including a few GGW parts which make a fantastic gun even better) I've picked up 4 more plus a Kadet Kit, have lost interest in shooting other semi-auto centerfires other than the BHP, and have sold my 1911, Beretta 92, and HK.

Here's my current level of CZ-itis handgun affliction (minus the 9mm upper for the stainless 75 B), but at least it's only about 1/4 as bad as with their rifles. :)

This may be a topic for a different thread and you weren't quoting me but I have the same gun, but I do not do any modification to my self defense firearms, they stay stock from the factory. And in the case of the P09, I find it has a perfectly serviceable trigger.

the sp-01 is the perfect CZ IMHO. very accurate, very reliable. a great shooter.,well balanced

I would not hesitate grabbing one

try grab agun or slick guns

OR if you want to get a real gem--try cz custom shop

An SP01 is on my short list for a nightstand gun. Right now my CZ75b does the job, but I really want to get something with an accessory rail so I can add a light.

Same as which? OP is asking about the SP-01 and you mentioned that your CZ is a P-09 (very different guns) so I'm not clear on which one you're referencing.

Certainly there's nothing wrong or risky about that approach. I've found all my CZs to have serviceable triggers from the factory, but I like them significantly better with the CGW and CZ Custom modifications. These parts are probably higher quality than the factory stuff if anything (and I don't say that lightly or with any lack of respect for the factory parts). I have some of their parts in all my CZs and I've never had a single misfire or malfunction, even with the light 12# springs that CGW recommends for range use, not HD. I use all my guns at the range or for plinking, so I like even my HD gun(s) to be fun to shoot so long as it doesn't risk malfunction. Nevertheless, I stick with the slightly heavier 13# spring from the CGW kit for the gun that I also use for HD.

I've never experienced a bad CZ. Good guns, good company. Need a Scorpion for your collection.

Do I own any? No, I'm only Glock and 1911 now. I suppose my DW counts as a CZ, kinda.

My SP-01 Phantom works perfectly as a night stand/CCW pistol. Yes, I carry it concealed. With the CZ branded NEBO light under the barrel, it seems to be a decent CZoice for HD use.

An SP-01 or PCR will be my next CZ...

That being said my FDE P-09 has been my bedside 9 for several years, it's been dead solid perfect at the range, and the factory night sights are pretty bright.

I keep a 75B as my nightstand gun, and a 75D PCR as my carry gun. Have for several years, and am very satisfied. A friend has an all steel SP-01 that he keeps as a nightstand gun with a light on it, and he loves it.

I’ve had an excellent experience with my CZ 75BD – it gets used as much as my Colt 1911.

The SP 01 is an outstanding choice.

I'm to the point where I love and trust anything CZ. I'm pretty much a fanboy now lol. P01/SP01 if you like rails and PCR/75B for the traditionalist. Cz's are perfect for any kind of duty.
