CZ Logo Question

I have recently bought my first CZ handgun, a CZ 75 SP-01. I have put something less that 300 rounds through it with only one hitch. I guess it tried to feed two shells at once. One tried to mount the one in the chamber and things locked up.

My question is when I was cleaning the gun this morning I noticed a strange logo on the gun in three places. It looks like a capital "N" with a stick figure of a man walking in the middle of the "N". It also appears to have an elongated "8" behind the stick figure or maybe it is part of the figure.

There are three of these logos: (1) between the O7 and the serial number on the slide, (2) one on the gun right before the serial number, and (3) one on the barrel right before the serial number. The stick figure looks like it has been drawn freehand. Inside the gun deeply stamped is "027" which I took to maybe mean February 2007.

I have looked at both the CZ USA and the CZUB websites and don't see any logos like that.

These are proof marks...

European guns traditionally had proof marks on their guns - this is what CZ UB uses on theirs. Same marks on all my CZs.

"N" used to be used as "proof" the gun could be used with smokeless (NITRO) powder. I would assume that it is still what it signifies. The SP01 is a nice firearm. Range report?

It's the mark of the Prague proofing house that tests their guns for CIP compliance (the European equivalent of SAAMI).
They essentially shove a +30% overload in the gun and make sure it doesn't explode.
The Prague symbol should be a rampant lion of sorts, but it's a bit stylized.

The deer antler stamped in the same places you mentioned on Walther and H&K guns is from the CIP Ulm proof house for example.

Thank you Gentlemen. I just didn't do enough research.

I am waiting for the rain to stop here on the Texas Gulf Coast so I can get back out on the range.

The SP-01 is very accurate .... much more accurate than I am. I need to put in some practice. I picked up several brands of ammo at the gun show at the GRB in Houston last week to see what seems to work best in this gun.

The only problem I have had with this gun is the thing I mentioned in my first post about one shell trying to mount another in the chamber. Does anyone have any thoughts what might have caused this? I was using Winchester 115gr FMJ value pack from WalMart.

I know that every gun is different, but what ammo have you found is the most accurate for punching holes in paper?

I read an article somewhere on the internet that 124 gr ammo is more accurate than 115gr in CZs. However, it seems to be rather difficult to find.

Are you saying two rounds were stripped from the magazine at the same time?

Or

was a fresh round stripped from the mag after firing and jammed into an empty case remaing in the chamber?

So it tried to chamber a new round without first extracting the round you'd just fired? If you're getting failures to extract, I'd suspect the extractor may have issues, but I would say continue shooting it and see if the problem was an isolated incident (maybe ammo related). If it occurs again (especially with a different brand of ammo, though WWB does not seem to be overly problem prone) I'd look at the extractor.

Clean under the extractor with a toothbursh, see how much gunk comes out. Then make sure your magazine feed lips haven't become widened somehow.
I had to look on my PO1 for those stampings, and there they were.

The problem has happened only once out of 300 rounds. 200 WWB and 100 Remington UMC.

I have several boxes of six other brands to try: Fed's American Eagle, Magtech, Indepencence, CCI Blazer, Fiocchi, and Sellier & Bellot....all 115 gr.

If it ever drys up around here so I can get to the range. It is thundering right now ..... ooops make that pouring.
