Never handled a CZ 97 but do own and shoot the Sig P220, Glock G21 and Ruger 97DC. As much as I like the Sig and Glock, the Ruger 97DC is my favorite. Points and shoots well for me at half the price.

Given the choice of Sig or CZ, I vote Sig P220.

I carried a P220ST for about a year, and while I liked the gun, I own a CZ75DB Police that is one of the smoothest pistols I have ever shot......and I am NOT a 9mm guy. If the 97 were anywhere near the quality and shootablity of my 75....I would have to take it over the P220.

Hey

Go buy what I have because it is the best otherwise I wouldn't have it (plus I have such poor self esteem I need other people to validate my self worth).

Both are good guns. Buy what you like. The 97s are noted for their accuracy even more so than regular CZs (it has a screw in bushing). It holds more rounds. The SIG is a class act.

I would highly recommend shooting both and deciding which one you like more. I'll acknowledge that the SIGs are finely crafted firearms and are generally reliable and decently durable, but I don't like the way they shoot. They flip too much, and the trigger reach is too short when the hammer is cocked. That's just me though.

I have a new CZ 75B in 9mm and a 20-year old Sig P220 in .45. I'd find it hard to choose between the two, if the CZ in .45 was the same as the CZ in 9mm. From what I gather, it isn't.

I simply have nothing bad to say about the Sig. It runs with any ammo, feeds, chambers and fires cast SWC's, aims naturally (for me), and hits almost exactly where it aims.

Consider a used P220 if you want to save a few bucks. My trigger pull is non-existent until it fires.

lol yeah why do act as if we get commission or something if they buy our choice?

(btw please get a P220)

...

I have to confess, yesterday I went up to my local gun store to pick up a case of 40cal and a case of 380 for my wife's new Sig P232 SL 380 w/polymer grips. I can't help myself, as I waited for them to get my cases of ammo, I took a quick look at the new Sigs in the case. :what: And what do I see?, but a Sig P220st (I think) in Two-Tone. It is smaller in length than the standard size P220R yet, it is slightly longer in length than a P220 Carry yet, is the same height, width, and weight, + or - , 1 oz, of both models, with a slightly slimmer rail and, DA/SA action.

It was saying, "I'm here, I'm the one you want", "I have Sig Night Sights, two 8 round mags, and my Stainless Steel Barrel looks so good with my black aluminum/polymer frame."

I started to drool.. ;) (thinking of adding wood grips) and I look around at ALL the people waiting for a gun salesman, and I wave over my buddy and say, IT"S MINE, MINE, MINE!! LOL

Yep, finally getting my Sig 45cal..

What a wonderful feeling..

Ok, where's my commission.. :D

Quoting Pilot...

For range get the CZ. For carry get the Sig P220.

I agree. The CZ can achieve an amazing trigger pull with good gunsmithing, but is far too large for comfortable CCW. Sick accuracy. Great ergos.

I have a 220. Not the most ergonomic thing I've held, far from it actually, but I trust it with my life so it resides on my side most of the time, even though there are smaller weapons out there.

I also have a CZ 75, but I don't trust it beyond the range.

I've tried the 220. Just couldn't warm up to it. Only regret on my CZ 97B was waiting so long to get one. It's ridiculously easy to shoot well. The blued ones are absolutely beautiful too. Certainly nothing wrong with the SIG but for my money it's the CZ. Even if the CZ were MORE expensive than the SIG I'd rather have it.

PS: I CCW my 97B OWB. It's heavy, but tolerable. IWB I carry my RAMI or my 75B in 40 S&W.

Chris. Honored that you quoted me but why don't you trust the CZ-75? My CCW piece is usually a CZ-75D PCR. 100% reliable, accurate, compact and feels great in my hand. I can't say enough about this gun. Its great.
