CZ P-01 Extractor Issues....

What ammo? The only time my P-01 has had any feed issues and jams was with Remington 115gr TMJ. The reason seems to be due to the short length of that round. Remington's TMJ 115gr is noticeably shorter in overall cartridge length then any other 115gr FMJ round I've seen. My P-01 is happy with anything else - PMC, WWB, Fiocchi, Amer. Eagle, Blazer, ... But those oddly short remington rounds just will not geed reliably in it.

BTW, others over at the CZ forums have reported the same issue with the same ammo.

Hi,
I would recommend pulling the Wolf extractor spring and replacing with the old. I had issues with the wolf spring on both my p-01 and SP-01 in 9mm. Maybe with the new extractor and original spring you will be good to go.

Good luck.

Your warrantee should be 5 years to original owner, so if you've had it sitting around for 4 years, it should still be covered. CZ MIGHT not take a call this week, recovering from SHOT. I never had this issue with any CZpistol - have had 11 so far. Hope this gets resolved soon!

Seldom is the Wolf extractor spring needed. CZ knew what they were doing when they originally designed the pistol. Put the original back in before you give up.

I understand wanting to give up. I have Les Baer 1911 that will not stop rusting, so things happen.

I agree that its probably the spring. Must have needed the new extractor originally and I guess I started in the wrong place by replacing the spring. Unfortunately I chunked the old spring so I guess I'll have to call CZ anyway. May just see what the cost is to send the gun in and let them look it over. As I said in previous posts, this gun is my favorite. Ergos are so right for me, it feels like an extension. I'll update when I get a resolution. Thanks for the input guys.

Well I will tell you what I think is wrong. Now that you have a new extractor the wolf spring is the problem, if you compare the wolf spring to the stock spring it is alot longer then the stock spring and needs to be cut or filled down to the stock size. If I was you I would get a stock replacement from Cz and cut the Wolf spring to match the stock and you will have a replacement.

Excuse me, but this thread is almost a year old, am I to understand that you never got it fixed? Thus the one major issue with CZ pistols is illustrated, parts & labor!

What that refers to is parts are hard to come by, and nobody works on them! I've always had trouble with the CS in KC....BTW, you start in working on your CZPO1 and you're likley to end up seriously regretting it....

Like I said in the previous posts, I started by replacing the spring with a Wolff extra power spring. That did not fix it so I contacted CZ who very promptly sent me a new extractor (apparently a redesigned one). I just didn't drop in the extractor until yesterday, approximately 10 months after receiving it. Seems the concensus is that the Wolff is the problem now so I'm going to get a factory spring to go with the new extractor. Wow, were you looking to blow off some steam about CZUSA? I actually had a good experience as far as they're concerned....

Nope, Like CZ pistols, just happen to not be endeared to their CS...Parts have always been spotty, further CZ pistols are notoriously difficult to work on, the CZ75 platform being made up of almost seventy parts is something you should think very hard on mucking with...If you're pistol does not function as it should(100% with at least 1,000 consecutive rounds)you should send it in for factory inspection....Period!

Whats happening is when I try to load the gun by slingshotting or releasing the slide stop, the round feeds about half way into chamber and stops.

The Wolff XP spring is the likely culprit. See if gunsprings.com has a 'regular' power extracter spring. $3 + shipping +/-.

If they do, order it. While you're waiting for it, cut "one" full coil off the XP spring in the gun now and try the feed again. I would also polish (lightly with a slow-speed dremel cloth wheel using white rouge or flitz) the the friction points and "claw" on the extracter itself.

These are all easy to do. The whole job = less than 30 mins.

If you had pursued the problem, this wouldn't be needed. The gun is definitely worth fixing.

I'll give you $250 as-is. :evil::D

Not following you here. Can you elaborate? I have pursued the problem to this point and appear to have the answer. Calling CZ today to get a replacement spring. I don't profess to be a gunsmith and every action I've taken to this point has been suggested by CZ users and the CZ gunsmith. I too think the P-01 is worth fixing. I've said over and over the pistol is my favorite and ideal for me in every way. Yes I've contemplated getting a G19 and still may when the P-01 is 100%, but I will be keeping my P-01.

Teasing you a bit:
As I said in the last post last year, CZ did send me the new extractor. Well, believe or not, I never got around to replacing the old one until today! I have, over the last year, carried my PF9 and SR9 while the P-01 sat in the closet.
