My dad just bought a CZ P-07. He says that the guy handling the paperwork kept racking the slide till it locked, and then dropping it by forcing down the decocker instead of the slide stop.

I'm not surprised the guy would do this, because I know for a fact that the guy was new at the gun shop and not terribly knowledgeable.

Is that even possible? I've never heard of it before. If it is possible, could it hurt the pistol?

I am not aware of any way that could happen... the slide is held back by the slide stop and released by pressing down on the slide stop... there is nothing that you can do to the slide or decocker that will drop release the slide stop... It is possible that I am wrong here but I personally own one of these and looking at it, I just cannot imagine a way that it this would happen. Then again, the decocker, safety, and slide stop all do look similar. Could he be mistaken?

He would probably be mistaken, the slide stop has no connection with the decocker. It isn't smart to do it with a magzine in the gun, but to release the slide with the slide stop isn't really bad. Over a long period of time it can round the slide stop, and LE teaches to pull back the slide fully to allow the slide stop to drop out of the way, then release.

All right. I told my dad the same thing, that it should be impossible. But I don't own a P-07, so I couldn't see for myself.

I'll tell him he was just mistaken.

Thanks.
