I am thinking of purchasing a NON-Glock pistol(I have 6) and I have narrowed it down to two guns chambered in 9mm.

Sig Sauer 229 in 9mm

CZ P01 in 9mm

I will use it for SD, HD and range time. Money set aside which one would you choose and

WHY

The SIG feels Wide and Clunky,.

The CZ is Slim and Sexy.

However, I really like the feel of the P250.

I would only get the P229 in .40. In 9mm, I'd look at a P226 with folded and stamped slide, because it's noticeably lighter and better handling. If you want a more compact pistol, check out the P228-they're importing them again.

Shoot both my P-01 and my son's SIG. SIG is a great gun like the P-01, BUT the P-01 is just much more fun to shoot.

Cz p-01

Ditto CZF... except for the "P250 part"...
Have both and both are EXTREMELY ACCURATE pistols and both can work well for CCW...
Hands down, I prefer the CZ P-01... fits MY hand like a glove... "slim and sexy" and one of the best shoots I own (my CCW)!!!
Both of these guns are flawless, quality shoots... You won't go wrong with either... it's what fits YOU best and which one YOU shoot best.
I own BOTH and wouldn't part with, or sell either!

BTW: I actually prefer my Sig P6 for carry... and it's about $300 cheaper than the P226... only negative, it's single-stack with 8 rnds!!

Although they are in actuality nearly identical in size - even fitting in the same holsters - the CZ has a slimmer and lighter feel to it (more so with the non-railed PCR, which is what I have) than the SIG. Because the P-01's hammer, when decocked, starts out from half cock, the trigger pull in DA is much shorter and just as smooth as the SIG's. The CZ's decocker is easier to reach with one's thumb. Two C-notes less money never hurts. :) The only items superior on the SIG are the SA trigger pull (my PCR's is somewhat heavy and "creepy") and the sight picture. I always had difficulty with my P228's grip size and the long reach and stroke of the DA trigger.

This is not to say that you won't get a fine handgun with the SIG. It is really personal preference.

I have never shot a Sig. A Sig 220 is on my wish list but...
I do have 3 CZ's and one of them is a P01.
It's my favorite CC gun and it's really accurate. It's never had a failure of any kind. I like the DA/SA trigger and it was the first gun I ever owned with a decocker. I wasn't sure if I liked the decocker when I got it but I like it so much that I got a CZ75BD --with the decocker.
I have handled a few Sigs but like I said --I never shot one. They do feel a little "blocky" but they are great guns. The P01 however feels like it was made for my hands.
Can't really go wrong with either gun--both are good.
For me--I would pick the CZ P01 over the Sig.
I'll get a Sig later
Just my opinion

Actually I would pick the CZ-75D PCR over both. I have a Sig P228 and a PCR. The PCR is the superior pistol. Lower bore axis, slightly smaller and similar capacity. I carry the PCR in a Bianchi belt holster designed for my P228. :D

I'll have to comment on the new PCR.

Trigger pull is smooth and sweet.
Little hint of creep with no gritty feeling like
with some guns.

Actually feels like a trigger job from CZ-USA, but I don't
think they worked it over before sending it to me.

The trigger is light years ahead of my old P-01 that was one of the
first to make it into this country.

Even my wife commented on how nice the trigger was on the PCR.

CZ P-01 everytime for me plz

CZ P01 for me, hands down.

It is the most natural feeling grip angel I come across and it point shoots from out of the holster without lifting beyound happy trail high to 21ft, it also point shoots chest/shoulder high to 45ft (center mass). If you happen to use the sights, you can do head shots all day long on IPSC/IDPA targets.

Fast target accusition, low muzzle flip, natural (straight) point of aim.

I have one of the the first run P-01 and the trigger was a bit off for my tastes.

But you can clean it up yourself witout any major issues by changing the main spring from the factory 16 lb to a 13 lb which will lighten up the dbl action to around a 4-4.5lb pull and the single action to around 2lb (if that).

You can also install the 85b Combat trigger which has a set screw to take up the slack for a tight reset.

After the first shot, your trigger reset (now in single action) should be no more than 3/16th of an inch at mid point on the trigger face.

Mine eats anything I put in it including rounds that others weapons refuse to pop. (even if you have to strike the primer twice, it goes bang)

I also shoot a CZ 75b that I worked over in local compititions.

P-01 for me too, it's the best shooting gun I own. I pick it over any of my other CZ's.

CZF when you get tired of shooting your PCR, email me, pm me, but just let me know. I want one real bad.

A Sig in .40 S&W or .357 SIG can be converted to 9mm, .40 S&W, or .357 SIG with a barrel conversion. Three guns for the price of one (plus the conversion kits)

well, both guns are dead nuts reliable, but here's the thing... at least in my experience, which isn't to say much.. but i know a few die-hard sig fans. they let me try out their 'tricked out' high dollar trigger jobs, and it just feels like mush, not even that great. they try my sp-01 and they say "wow, this is pretty good. what did you have done to it?" and i tell them, "Nothing, just changed two springs for ten bucks." lol.

I picked Sig for one reason. I train to manipulate the slide using the "clamshell" grip with my left hand. The CZ offers a much smaller grip area and is more difficult to grab. I am sure this can easily be overcome with practice, but none of my other handguns share that problem.

That said, the SP01 is one of the most accurate combat handguns I have ever used. Certainly more accurate than any other gun I know of in the same price range.

I also own both, and while they are each great pistols in their own right, I prefer the CZ. If for no other reason, than for the ergonomics. Built like it was designed for my hand personally.

Very very tough choice. I have 2 229's, a P-01, and a P-06. There's just something about how a CZ with the contoured rubber grips fits, like it melts in your hand. The newer Sigs with milled slides are very dense, you'll be surprised at the weight first time you pick one up ... but they are smoother to shoot, slightly more accurate, and the SRT trigger is wonderful. The standard DA/SA Sig trigger is very good too, the SRT just takes it up a notch. CZ triggers aren't bad, especially if you're used to DAO striker guns, just not Sig good.

All that said I absolutely love both the CZ and Sig. I don't know if I could choose a favorite.

Don't start thinking about SIGs , bs... you're gonna need your money for the 'little lady'... Pretty soon, no more beer and guns!!

.

i don't want a SIG. good guns, but they're like big clumsy bricks for me. can't stand the trigger either. actually, someone is selling the exact gun i want in the exact configuration with the exact parts i want on it right now. sucks to be in a spending freeze while job stuff sucks at the moment. and no, i don't drink, so we're good on that front. :)

hey, wanna buy a nice CZ40? lmao.... :D

SigPro...

bs... just picked up a SigPro-2022 a couple weeks ago... great gun!!! Very accurate, very smooth trigger and for a Sig, a real good price ($480 NIB)...
Made a Rule... only ONE 'poly' gun, so the FNP-9 will be going.
Congrats again... Vegas for the hm?... some real good ranges out there.

.

no, no honeymoon. it's a long story. getting hitched on the 4th of july... but july 1st one of three things will happen: i'm employed and can take two weeks off, or i'm unemployed and looking for a job, or my company sells us out to a new one and i'm working with no time off at all around the wedding, haha!
