Might be picking up a Canik stingray here in the next couple days and this is going to be a fun project gun for me and as far as mods go nothing is off the table so I'm wondering what you stingray owners would want done if it was your gun? Or cz P01 owners to.

So far by looking at the gun I think something needs done with the safety's, probably some kind of reshaping as I just think they are ugly. I'm sure i'll throw a CGW hammer and Sear in it when they become available again and most of your normal internal mods, fitted disco, pins, ect.

Thinking about making a cheaper protek. Will probably refinish the gun and do some mods to the frame/slide like rounding the shape egdes, removing all stamped writing except the SN#, undercut trigger guard, re profile the beaver tail.

so anything you guys can think of throw it out here.

Wow , you're planning quite a project ! I have a Stingray and like it a lot. I feel like an underachiever, but all I've done is to install thin VZ G10 grips. I also bought a SAO trigger from Cajun Gunworks . ( he seems very fluent in Caniks).

I really didn't like the way the slide release on the right side of the gun ( It's an ambi), rubbed my finger , so I trimmed it off. I now only have a left side slide release and am very satisfied. It's an accurate gun that has been 100% reliable , so far.

Oh yeah..... The safety was absolutely attrocious. Took both thumbs to operate. I had a gunsmith , smooth that out.... ~ $75

Tho I haven't touched a canik I've done enough CZ work that I'm sure it will be a breeze, I just want to see what people had done to there canik's or would want done maybe on there dream canik/p01

ThompsonCustom,

I am confident you will be amazed at the finished product. I have done several of the Caniks' and blind folded you could not pick out which was a Canik and which was a Pro-Tek.

Superb base pistols. Just need some massaging to bring out their potential.
