Been looking for a CCW pistol and have been giving the CZ's a serious look. The CZ Rami gets good reviews all around. But I'm a little undecided. They come in a Steel and Poly frame models. Anyone have experience with both? I'd like to hear the pro's and Cons of both.
I've pretty much decided on the 9mm caliber. Who has the best price?

thanks in advance.

Back when I looked at them a few years back they had spotty reliablity. I was looking at the steel ones in 9mm. I like CZ but I think there are better more reliable small carry 9mms on the market.

I am considering one of these myself, but in the alloy frame only. I have heard the same thing rellascout has which makes me think I will probably go in a different direction for a sub compact 9MM. I am thinking Kahr or Walther PPS right now.

I've heard of the reliability issue, but every time I heard it it concerned the 40SW versions. My reading has mostly suggested the 9mm were very reliable.
Anyone else know?

Yes, the 9mm RAMIs are superb. The newer .40s are running better these days.

After 8 years for carry with the alloy version.

I picked up a customized RAMI P model with CZ85 Combat trigger modification.

While only have around 60 JHP and FMJ through it so far.

The gun is even more than I expected.

Rated at only one ounce lighter than the alloy.

The RAMI P isn't wearing wooden Hakans, and thus.. seems much lighter for carry.

recoil isn't pronounced with the P version either.

While not as small or light as a Kahr or Glock 26/27, or
even the new LC9.

Everything about this gun seems ideal for myself and
someone looking for CZ quality and reliability in a CCW
friendly package.

I thought the steel frame just looked better than the poly.
I got the 2075 BD (decocker), and it has been totally reliable. Totally.

But.......and this is a big but, I think it is too wide to be a good carry pistol.
Check it out before you slap the money down.
I'd go with a Kahr PM-9, or an EMP (pricey) before the CZ.

I would also have made the slide release a bit longer, so you could actually use your thumb.
(like the perfect one on the CZ-75)

Almost to man or woman.

Everyone that I've heard from that has bought a RAMI BD is in love with it.

Very safe with the decocker feature for first time CZ or first time gun buyers.

Not all people are confident with lowering the hammer down on a live round.

I'd like to see a RAMI P decocker in the future, if not a DAO with some
sort of simpler Omega type trigger.

I purchased a 9mm RAMI P2075 and kept it for only 2 months

The gun would not feed any brand of ammo consistently except Speer Gold Dots. I tried Corbon, Federal HST, Winchester Ranger, Hornaday, and Remington Goden Saber with no success. Far too selective on ammo for me. I took the gun back to my LGS and traded it for a XDm 3.8, which works flawlessly. The RAMI also had a verry gritty trigger. Not bashing CZ's just my unpleasant experience with the RAMI.

I haven't had any issues with my alloy model. I have the 9mm version. I carry mine every day with a crossbreed holster. I've been really happy with my purchase. It's just the right size and firepower for me.

I wouldn't suggest getting the polymer framed version though. There have been quite a few complaints of bulged frames. The alloys are all running fine though.

I haven't heard too many good things about the poly version.

I've had the alloy version for a year now. No issues after the first 100 rounds or so. PDX1, Gold Dot, and reloads of various RN/HPs have all gone through it just fine. Fired several thousand rounds with no issues. It's one of my favorite guns actually.

I always read these RAMI threads with interest. I have a three digit early alloy frame RAMI in 9mm that works extremely well for me for concealed carry.

I feel this way because I can shoot it almost as well as my CZ-75B. I agree with many of the observations above, such as the trigger starts out gritty and the gun is too fat. But the trigger smoothed out pretty quickly, and while I would prefer to carry a Kahr, I can shoot the CZ RAMI substantially better. It really is a personal choice.

I loved my 2075 Rami. It was the Alloy framed version with the P slide. I never understood that, but whatever. It made it look better though. Anyway, once I started using it at the range, I had many failure to feed issues. The issues never really got resolved. I eventually had to go to something else for conceal carry.

I chalked it up to it being an early model plagued with teething problems. It's been roughly 4 years since I had my Rami. I would assume that it's teething problems have now been solved. Once I can afford it, I plan to purchase another alloy framed Rami, the BD version. However, they are a bit wide for a concealed carry pistol. Interestingly, the feeding problems only seemed to occur with the 14 round mags, while the 10 round mag worked perfectly.

Oh, I've heard about the plastic CZ models having trouble with bulging in the middle of the frame. I have actually seen one being sold at a local shop. It is a bit disturbing. However, the weight of the plastic Rami isn't really lighter than the alloy version. Just food for thought.

I've had an alloy .40 for a couple years that is one of my carry guns. It started out with feeding problems. I sent it off to CZ Custom for some work and also obtained some new magazines from CZ USA. Apparently earlier mags permitted rounds to nosedive and were responsible for some of the feeding problems. It runs well enough now and I like it okay, but if I had known in advance that I'd end up dumping money into it, I'd have passed on the RAMI.

Now you guys have me lusting for a BD.

I don't push people towards the .40s, even though they reportedly run better these days.

The 9mms are usually stellar in performance. I tell anyone that's looking for a smaller 9mm to check one out.

Those looking to buy their first gun or CZ should buy the very safe
RAMI BD with the decocker lever.

That's the them for the last few weeks now as the weather warms up for most of us..and people email me
asking for advice. I'm always here to help people get into CZs,
and good holsters.

That said.. there has been at least one special run of the RAMI.

So, like to also own a Stainless slide model.

Missed one for $375 a few months ago.

with the addition of a BD and then Stainless.

My RAMI collection would be complete, until they offer
a decocker P model. Or that eventual DAO version.

I've owend a slew of Czs (75B, 75Sa, P-01, PCR, Cz83) and other guns..I just seem to gravitate back to my RAMI, and now RAMIs.
They might not be for everyone, but seem to be the ticket for me.

The poly model may only be an ounce or so lighter than the alloy framed model, but I bet the frame will last longer if you're putting a ton of rounds through it.

Probably not a concern for all but a very few shooters, and even then the RAMI probably isn't the gun for 40-100K rounds anyway.

Thye look great, I didn't realize they had different slides for the P and regular frames, I also think the alloy frame, P slide, and Hakan grips are a winning combination.

How does the RAMI (alloy) compare in size and weight to the G26, Walther P99C, and other similar double stack, 9MM sub compacts?

A little bigger and heavier.

Helps with recoil and accuracy.

The RAMI is one gun you will either love or hate.

No real middle ground.

Seems to do everything I need a 9mm to do.

Well the RAMI may have to be a nice addition to my 75B and PCR, although I really want a 97B, but that won't fill my summer carry role, lol.
