Thinking about the two guns: CZ Scorpion (9mm) vs. Glock 35 (.40)

It's not for concealed carry. And I'm not interested in putting a stock in the Scorpion and making it a SBR.

Here's the question:

In terms of controllability in aiming and firing, which have you found to be easier? The hand placement on the Scorpion is obviously different. And without adding a stock, how easy is it to control?

I'm thinking of making it a "truck gun". Is there an advantage to one over the other?

Is there something that the Scorpion can do, that the Glock could not?

Would the .40 caliber Glock make up for the longer barrel of the Scorpion (in 9mm), in terms of effectiveness at say...100 yards?
(The 100 yard number is just for comparison. I realize that most encounters happen within 10 yards.)

Thanks for the advice!

I'd rig a single point sling hanger for the Scorpion. You COULD CC the Glock 34/35 in fall/winter clothing wih a shoulder rig or crossdraw...either would suffice for a truck gun.
Of course, although both are great guns; if I were to go the Scorpion route in that role I'd be MORE inclined towards an M92/Draco/PPS43C something similar. ( I'd favor the M92 myself) just to get more " bounce to the ounce" at the receiving end.
Try both. See which suits YOU better. ALSO, consider magazines and parts availability.

I've only handled the CZ Evo in a LGS, and decided to get the SiG MPX instead which is similar to the Evo in length. The Evo would make a great truck gun and you could conceal in a backpack easily. I conceal carry a CZ Sp-01 .40 cal. in a belly belt hoster in jacket weather.
If CZ gets the safety problem fixed where it will not gouge into your shooting hand, then the Evo seems to make a good high capacity HD and truck gun. I really like my MPX and carry it in a 5.11 box pack backpack, but presently I can't buy any extra mags. The Evo 30 rd. mags are around $20.00. and cheaper than the MPX mags. Can't comment on the Glock 35.

The CZ gives you the option of mounting a Shockwave Blade or Sig brace for a cheek weld which is another point of contact you can't get from the Glock. And what happens with the brace when nobody else is around is your own business.

40 calibers in polymer guns feel too snappy for my liking. I'd vote Scorpion out of the two.

If you don't plan to stock (legally) the EVO then the Glock all day, everyday and twice on Sunday.

The Glock
Is Much more natural to handle
Has accessories out the wazoo
Is totally proven
Can be carried easily
Provides the same amount of firepower basically
Could also technically be stocked (legally/SBR)
Is easier to transport.
Is cheaper
Is still pretty much legal anywhere, where some places limit pistols with forward loaded magazines.
Is likely more robust and at a minimum equally so

The EVO is a damn cool range toy that I would think would get tedious in actual use.

Just my 2 cents.

If you are not going to SBR it I wouldn't even consider the Evo. I would consider a Glock with an RMR if you are looking to have capability at longer ranges.

Pistol versions of rifles are not particularly user friendly. They are much more difficult to use well than regular pistol IMHO.

^^^^^^^^ This. Agree totally. I had a Sig P556 Pistol. I got rid of it because I didn't want to register an SBR, and even with a sling on it, I was a far faster shot with a conventional handgun. If you really want to be able to reach out a bit with a handgun, I think you'd be better off with a longer slide semiauto, or a 6" 357, or 44 mag revolver.

good luck. Rifle/pistol type guns are strictly toys IMO. I suppose if you have a lot of ammo to shoot and a lot of time to practice, they can be effective, but there just seems to be a lot more practical options.

Glock all the way... You can add basepads from 0 - 10, to up the capacity easily.

As long as I can buy big sticks for normal every day pistols. Ill never have a use for one of those Pistols/PCC's...

Concealed carrying a Scorpion EVO..... that would be a neat trick.

IMO the Scorpion is worthless without a stock, and so Glock is the obvious choice, but I would go G34.
Put a one point bungee sling like Sig offers on the Evo and carry it under a large loose coat. Put the stock adapter with buffer tube, and a RDS on the Evo, and you've got a really good HD and truck gun pistol. You can also get a folding stock adapter for your buffer tube.

Have you handled the Glock 41 yet? Same exact size as the Glock 35, with a .45ACP boom. Fit's any holster that'll fit the Glock19/23/32/17/22/34/35. It does have a thicker Glock21 grip, but that has no effect on my holsters.

I think it's unfair to compare the Glock to the Scorpian. The CZ will be more fun with a buffer tube and Shockwave brace. The Glock will be more fun than the Scorp without the brace though.

You'll need some good sights for that Glock. Check out the Warren Sevigny Comp's.

I'd have to shoot the Evo punched out on a single point sling with a RDS to decide. Evo advantage would be capacity and ease of mounting an optic. If it really is faster and easier to shoot the Glock, even with a sling and proper technique on the Evo...then Glock all the way.

Both fit the same holsters I have. Even my 23 holsters.

must be open ended though.

My 35 fits in my 17's holster after I took a heat gun to it...

I'd get the Glock. The little machine pistol type guns are kinda goofy unless you SBR it. Without a stock, it's just a giant, clunky pistol that weighs too much.

If you want optics, there is also the Glock 35 MOS now so you can put a mini red dot on it.

You do know that I own a 35 and 41, right?
According to Glock's website, they are very close, but not completely identical in size. Difference of 4mm in length, 1mm in height, 2.5mm in width - with the 35 being the smaller in each area.

ETA: These are the Gen4, by the way.

Slide width is same, trigger guard is same. Those are where, many of the better holsters, grip a Glock.

41 grip is larger, same as 21. But no contact with any holsters there. I CCW my Glock 41 in a Glock 23's Crossbreed Spertuck and my G23's open bottom Raven Concealment type, copy cat (I made it), holster. Obviously open bottom, but any good knife can fix that.

My 41 drops right into a closed bottom 35 holster.
