CZ shotguns aren't actually made by cz. They are made by huglu, a Turkish company. When they first hit the market in the US, they were not great and a lot of what you'll find on Google is from back then.
However, I believe they've come a long way and are now a very reliable shotgun. If you check out shotgunworld forums and go to the huglu lovers section, you'll find an extremely comprehensive review on the cz 912 and most of their other offerings.
I myself have been researching budget semiauto shotguns for a while now and just purchased a 912. Waiting for it to show up. I also have first hand experience with cz's customer service (I own several cz pistols) which is outstanding. I know if i run into problems, I'll be taken care of.
One negative thing is a lack of aftermarket options being a relatively new gun. For me it came down to the mossberg 930 or the cz. I found a great price and it just looked so much better so i went with the cz lol. The 712 has many more stock and barrel length options and will also take aftermarket recoil pads. But the 912 sure is a looker.
Anyway that's what I've come up with on my long search for a shotgun and I'll provide an update once i actually get mine but I'm sure I'll love it.
