A question about CZ single action triggers

Gentlemen: I would like to know how the CZ pistol triggers in the single action mode compare. I know the 1911 is pretty much king of the hill in this regard and I have a 1911 "Wad gun" with an excellent 3.5 Lb. trigger. I also know that most 1911's come anywhere from 5 -9 lbs. box stock so I'm curious as to how the CZ'z are stock and their potential after being "smithed".
I have owned in the past a Browning HP with a 4.5 LB. trigger and while it was fairly light it was somewhat creepy and had a fair amount of overtravel after it broke. How would a good "smithed " CZ trigger compare to say the 1911 or the BHP? Thanks in advance. Nick

Actually it is kind of like comparing apples and oranges. A pivoting trigger just doesn't compare to a straight pull 1911 trigger.

I've had quite a few very nice 1911 triggers. I currently have a CZ-75B SA that has been worked over by Miossi Gun Works. The trigger, hammer, and sear have been replaced. The firing pin block has been removed. It has the double adjustable trigger. I have adjusted all the take up I can out of the trigger but it still isn't near what a 1911 is capable of. Because of this I have had to adjust the gun to a heavier trigger pull so I am able to feel when it breaks. It came back from Miossi with a 2 3/4# pull with a 16# mainspring installed. I have since put in a 19# mainspring to get the pull to around 4# to avoid accidental discharges.

Don't get me wrong. I love this gun the way it is set up now. It is however totally different than a 1911.

as said..the pivot design makes it feel different than the 1911..it will have slightly more travel to letoff than the 1911..

you can get a great trigger on them..I have one from Matt Mink..with new hammer, 85combat sear, removed the FP safety ( shortens the reset point) and the adjustable trigger. Trigger broke at 1.8#s and was nice and crisp..I really like it and it compares well to my 1911s that are a 1.5#s

Generally speaking, out of the box nothing beats a 1911 trigger, except maybe the SA pull of a Smith revolver. However, I've been quite happy with the SA pulls of all of dozen or so CZ 75B's I've shot extensively. They're not as crisp and light as a 1911 or a Smith revolver, but I find them quite easy to shoot well. In any case, they beat the SA pull of any other TDA or any striker-fired guns.

I guess I am just numb.
I find nothing at all to criticize in a well tuned CZ trigger. The Tactical Sport and the Angus Hobdell tuned SP01 Shadow have very fine triggers... and I have been shooting 1911s for many years.

A worked over 75B SA (CZ-USA action job) was deadly accurate, even in my hands.

Shot tighter groups than any 1911 i've owned or fired.

I'll take that one further. My un tuned 75b DA/SA with several thousand rounds through it is easier for me to shoot accurately than many 1911s and sigs I have shot.

off course I am one of those wierdos that like a glock with a good trigger job aka drop in $20 part.

All said and done though I am looking to buy another 1911 and not another cz.
