The best single action trigger.

I believe everyone will agree that the 1911 has the best single action trigger; I know without a doubt of all my handguns my 1911 does. However the opinion I seek is which none 1911 autoloader with double and single action or stricker has the best single action trigger? Which has the worst?

My opinion would be:

Best: H&K USP

Worst: S&W SW99- way to much creep.

Let's get two Mainers on this thread quick. I've not shot alot of da/sa autos but of those I have, I would have to agree that the USP has a fairly decent trigger. Now that I think about it, I know my P7M8 has a better trigger than my USP. I've felt some S&W's with really bad triggers.

The P7 is definitely sweet. The USP Tactical is pretty good but basic USP's are awful. Berettas can be quite good, especially after a trip to Ernest Langdon. I've also experienced a SIG that, with only extensive use and no gunsmithing, has attained a sub-3# SA trigger that would shame any off-the-shelf Kimber, Colt, or Springfield.

Best single action trigger on an out of the box handgun under $2000 I've ever tried was a CZ IPSC Standard... just under 2 lbs and ZERO creep. Only fault I could find in it was the trigger itself was plastic and I prefer the EAA stick triggers.

For DAO or double action striker fired guns, the Kahr triggers are pretty nice... A bit longer than I was used to (as most of my experience has been with 1911s) but very smooth and consistant.

Worst (of the generally decent handguns) is probably some of the lesser Beretta or Taurus copies. They can be made very respectable and some are decent out of the box, but between the size of the grip, the length of pull and the weight of some... eek!

I would have too say MY West German .45 caliber
SIG-SAUER P220A; but of course, I'm a bit biased.

USP one of the better ones? Not in my USP40, it's creepy and spongy. The best I've got is my Sig P220ST.

My standard P220 has a very good single action trigger pull. Unfortunately, you have to get through that double action first shot to enjoy the single action. If they had just made a P220 with a safety instead of assembling "granites" out of commodity 1911 parts...

I thought I would here a few remarks on that call.

My brothers USP 45f is a tad spongy BUT my USPc 45 must be the exception because it has no creep nor is it spongy however it is a little heavy. Then again it's all heavy compared to my 3.5# 1911.

I do agree P220 does have a great trigger. even though I dislike the gun.

i think out of the P99, USP9F's, Sig P239, 14.45 LDA Ltd, XD's (it pretty much is a SA) and Glock's (not really a SA), my P239 has the best SA trigger out of all of them.

Sig 239 in 9mm has the best (and one of the only) triggers of this type I've shot.

Glock's G34 was pretty outstanding as well, and I just ordered one!

In my limited experience,

Best: Sig P-series. They have the most predictable triggers and smoothest SA

Worst: Beretta 92FS. This is my opinion of course, but I stated before that the Beretta's I've shot have the VAGUEST triggers in my experience. I had to guess when the trigger would engage, and ended up returning the gun (rented) before my 50 rds for a XD-9. I've also shot a 96FS and I was not impressed w/ that gun either.

I have a Smith PC 952, and it's trigger is simply amazing. It has no creep, none at all. The trigger just breaks, no tactile or visible signs. It's trigger is better than all of my 1911s. That gun really is a testament to Smith automatics. Not too practical a gun, but for shooting pleasure, it really is a beaut.

This is an understandable opinion if you're referring to a TUNED 1911 in a centerfire caliber. However, there are any number of target pistols - usually in .22 rimfire - that are superior to any 1911 I've ever handled.

Non-1911 SA triggers? P7 and SIG P-210 both have good ones, although both are SA-only guns.

In TDA pistols, SIGs usually have fairly decent SA pulls...

CZ75B SA. Yes, it has the plastic trigger, but it is really light. I plan on sending it in for a trigger job at some point.
