I am thinking of getting a CZ Tactical Sport. Does anyone know if this gun is IDPA leagal? If not maybe the CZ 75 B SA... I know the 75B SA would be leagal but, I really like the Tactical. I already have the 97 B and it turned out to be a very good gun, maybe the best in my collection. Please post any pics. of the Tactical Sport along with any opinions.

Thanks

The Tactical Sport is too heavy (catalog 2.8 lb = 44.8 oz vs 43 ESP max), too wide (1.8 in vs 1.625" Box) and has the dreaded full length dust cover. Not allowable for IDPA.

The Custom Shop SP-01 MIGHT be ok for IDPA, the weight is right on the ragged line for SSP. And since it has the dreaded full length dust cover, it must meet SSP requirements even to shoot ESP. 2.4 lb = 38.4 oz vs 39 SSP max but I don't know how precise that 2.4 lb is and I don't know if it includes a magazine as required by IDPA.

Safer to get the CZ75 SA. Or check with Angus Hobdell, daddy of the Custom Shop SP-01 and see if he can make it meet IDPA SSP weight limit.

I see were the wieght would be a problem and also the over all length but, I was looking in the rule book and found this about the dust cover. "Full length dust covers of carbon or stainless steel." Are EXCLUDED Modifications. Correct if I am wrong but, it sounds as if it is acceptable as long as it is made of just steel. I know that the Tactical sport has a S.S. frame and would not be leagal. However, the 97B, P01, SP01, 75 compact 40 and SP01 custom should all be leagal. They all have full length dust covers.
For now I am getting ready my XD 9 Tactical and after I install the trigger kit to shorten the travel, I will be using it in the ESP division. Anyone out there use this gun in IDPA.

Yes, I use an XD9 Tactical with a 3.5# trigger job (Springer Precision) in ESP division of IDPA. Most XD's I see being used are the 4" barrel service duty pistol. They both work well.
