im considering buying a cz upland ultralight o/u shotgun for international skeet

so i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the gun and any pros cons good and bad i would like to know anything i can about this gun before i buy it. when i looked around all i could find is good reviews

theres got to be someone out there who did not like something about it

Why would you want an ultralight upland gun for IS and not a heavy target gun to smooth the swing and absorb recoil?. Skeet guns typically weigh 8#+, not 6 - the recoil will be brutal. Also, since it is NOT steel prolonged use will shorten its life very quickly. Most field guns like these are carried a lot and shot a little. Skeet guns are the opposite, carried a little and shot a LOT
A used Browning/Beretta skeet gun would be a better choice

For not a whole lot more, you can find a Belgian Browning Superposed for skeet with some of the best barrels ever made. Yes, the gun will be used and maybe 30+ years old - but they were built to last and shoot a LOT

I ordered the 26" version of this shotgun and will have it next week. However, it will not be a trap and skeet gun. I bought it for what it is intended for: upland game. In my case mostly pheasants. I'll probably use it a few times as practice before hunting season, but that will be all.

I ordered an assortment of additional chokes so I could run both barrels IC or M at the same time which is perfect for early and late season respectively.

For clay games I'd want something heavier. If you want to be in the CZ line there are several different OU's that are similar and priced in the same ballpark, but all steel.

Edit: I've read about a few problems on CZ Huglu made shotguns where they are not shooting point of aim or the barrels are not well regulated. I'll be patterning this and hopefully won't have an issue. If I do, at least CZ customer service has a good reputation. I'm going to give it the old college try, but I also suspect the fiber optic front sight will bother me and may end up swapping to a plain bead or take it off entirely.

Fired my CZ Upland ultralight for the first time last night on some informal clays. The recoil can best be described as "snappy" (as expected).

It was fine with some light trap loads, wouldn't want to do that a lot but it was tolerable. When I switched to my hunting loads to test, lets just say I didn't shoot any more than I had to.

Sorry, I was generically calling them trap loads. More accurately Estate 7/8 oz target loads. Either way, a very light shotgun with minimal shoulder padding thumps a bit. Nice bruise on my shoulder this morning!

Next is to pattern it and decide if it needs to be fitted or not. I'd like to slip a limb saver on it but then the LOP would be too long so some work on the stock may happen. I wasn't doing so hot last night. Need to practice more with it and get used to an OU. I caught myself several times trying to pump the non-existent slide to take a shot at a 2nd pigeon.
