CZ457 Royal Premium

I dont have that version, I have the American. Tho I dont believe there is any difference from mine besides the stock and threaded sporter barrels.

I think the 457s a fantastic rimfire, and would highly recommend one.

Id order one of those Royal stocks.....cept for that lettering on the side....i dont like that.
Still tho, I think the 24" .17hmr or .22 barrels ive got would look sexy in that stock.

Thanks. I really want a Ranger. But I don’t see it as accurate. The Boyd’s stocked 457 looks great too.
Im probably going to buy a ranger at some point soon. What ive read about them has generally suggested they are well made, but may suffering teething issues. I also think Christensen will work with you if you have a problem.
The accuracy results ive seen have been pretty good for a sporter weight rifle, but may not reach that of a bench gun.
Actually my 457 with its LW heavy barrel would probably outshoot a Ranger if I could get decent ammo. It does really well with cci and aguila standards....im assuming it would do much better with real target ammo.....could be completely off base also lol.

With the factory .22 barrel tho, it is closer to a 2-3moa rifle. Groups at 50yds ran 1.5" or so and 100 would hover around 2.
The stock .17hmr barrel will stack shots.....so i think its just MY stock .22 barrel

I have a 452 American at 16+ inches and threaded and love the bejeepers outa it.

The quality of the build is superior, work of the action is slicky-clicky and the accuracy from that 16 inch threaded barrel warrants more scope then I would usually assume.

The upgrades listed in your link make that version of CZ intriguing.

Note that the price will need to be added to by a scope of deserving quality.

When it comes to ammunition, the cost debate is a non-starter as it is such a fine .22 that as with my premium Winchesters and S.A..... I shoot significantly less ammo as all faulty hits are on me and warrant the same contemplation as a bull's eye and my shooting is thereby slowed for the greater enjoyment.

Todd.

Too, note that these factory threaded CZs are 1/2 x 20 and not the 1/2 x 28 that most Americans would expect.

Nice thing is, adaptors of equal quality are easily found - should you ever wish to suppress it.

Todd.

I like the look of the 16" barreled version. All of my CZ's are shooters, so I think you would have a good shooter on your hands.

As you well know, CZ. seem to love certain ammo. If you weren’t 4,000 miles away I’d give you some of my Wolf Match Extra. I’ve got 2-3 bricks.

I haven’t shot anything other than Federal Auto Match or Wolf in a long time, but the Wolf is exceptional

I appreciate the thought!
I asked one of the stores here if they would bring some wolf and SK match in, but Id have to order a big shipment so havent yet.

I actually like the 16" personally......Id be happy to give you my 24" .22 barrel also, maybe you could find ammo it would like. I dont think ill take off the 20" LW, and if i do it will be to install the .17hmr.

I got the CZ512 for 22 Mag. The Steyr RFR for 17. It would be nice to have a 17 barrel. And thanks for the offer. What ammo does your like?

No idea.
I shot cci minimags, standards, and some aguila thru it. I had a few rounds of Federal GMM and Hunter Match, but less than a box of each. The hunter match shot pretty well at abou 1" but the rest were 1.5ish or larger.
Ive got the factory paperwork ill see what they got

I have some Federal from the 90’s and shoots well in everything I have tried it in. Still got a bunch of the Wolf too. I think I will call my friend Monday and have home order me one. I am also bidding on another Mossberg.

Wolf Match Extra. It does pretty well with Federal Auto Match, maybe .75-1” @ 50. The Wolf shoots one hole pretty regularly. Absolute best I remember is several in the .2’s @ 50 yards.

I let the neighbor kids shoot at a 2” steel at 100 with the Federal and they hit it with boring regularity

I can't wait to shoot my New CZ 457 Varmint. Mid-january if all goes well. Received it threaded last fall, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Plenty of premium and not so premium ammo stocked when I ordered it in August 2019.

I would go with the 20" barrel, for cosmetic and accuracy (nostalgia influenced judgment from when I was still very good with iron sights) reasons.

I don't like the writing on the stock, they should have just used a sticker or something. I've seen were guy were interested in it until they seem the stock. I'm hoping to just get a 457 American this year makes for a nice squirrel rifle in 22lr.

I've got the American rugers and really like them, I am starting to use the 17hmr after October 1 since we can shoot coyote after that.

I think the wording on the stock looks horrible but if it doesn’t bother you, they make a great rifle.

I have a 452 that is a top gun all around. Many consider the now discontinued 452s as being slightly superior to newer models as the fixed barrels give an edge in accuracy from most reports.

My experience with the CZ 455 Standard, my first CZ ever, was sufficiently enjoyable (while confirming the need to transfer my primary sight option to glass) that it brought me to get the 457 Varmint and 557 Black Edition in 30-06. The upgrade will also come to the range wearing a suitable scope, as will its more powerful sister addition. My cheaper scopes will stay right where they are. The accuracy I have come to expect should deserve proper optics. My only regret is that I am not likely to buy one of their renowned pistols because handguns are more complicated to own over here and I have not taken that path to this day. It is my understanding that one should avoid their over-under shotguns, but I don't know why exactly.
