does anyone have a idea who has the best price for the quality on cz83's just seen a couple come in from j&g they did not impress me much .

I bought mine a couple of years ago from Cole Dist., Scottsville, KY. It was listed on Gun Broker and they hand picked it ~ even sent pics for my approval prior to sending any money.

I don't know if they currently have any ~ but great folks to deal with. There are several on Gun Broker that look good.

He hand picks from importer batches, and what he picks up is High Excellent to Unfired. If he doesn't have it, Email him or Call him, and he'll get it for you if he can.

You will pay more, BUT you know what you are getting, and if you don't feel like paying the lotto with a order, Todd's the way to go.

even if you get a perfect one, if you actually carry it or use it, it will wear. that painted on finish is junk. either accept that, or refinish it

UM, 83's are blued, not polycoat, or at least the ones I've seen.

Why not just get a CZ 82? They are essentially the SAME gun just with a slightly more powerful (albeit harder to find in some cases) projectile. They are usually a lot cheaper than a CZ 83. The finish is usually crap on them, but you can either touch it up or just not worry about it....I mean if it's a carry gun what's the point of being worried about the finish?

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe the finishes include: satin nickel, glossy blue and black polycoat.

I have a satin nickel and glossy blue.

I bought this one back in 2008. Not sure what the finish is. The slide seems more parkerized than blue, at least not a glossy blue??? The frame is definitely blued not painted. This one was sold as a European police trade in. Its been a great carry gun.
