CZ97.45 or Kimber 1911 ?

I have two DW 1911s that I don’t believe could be unseated for by any Kimber. I also really like CZ guns, so I’d go for a 97.

Only can speak for myself but I've owned 3 Kimbers and apart from the Ultra needing a bit of tension tuning on the extractor (which takes 10 minutes to do myself) they all ran just fine with any ammo.

My Warrior has spent plenty of time as a nightstand gun and I carried the Pro Carry for a few years before I decided I didn't like aluminum 1911s (which was also the fate of the Ultra Carry), so I trusted them with my life, possibly... well as much as any civilian CCW anyway.

But they all needed good mags, like any 1911 and the ones Kimber sent were junk. So there is that.

My UCII had a grip safety timing issue that they fixed under warranty, but if you didn’t have it 100% compressed on a quick draw, it would click no bang!

Ummmm ... the photo posted in the OP is NOT the "latest" CZ-97. The latest CZ-97 has aluminum grips.
If memory serves me right, the wood grip 97 is still made for the Cali market due to that model number on the list. The date code on that CZ looks like either 00 or 20, hard to tell. The issue with the barrel has been solved and CZ will upgrade the barrel.

One thing I don't understand about the complaints is the DA trigger reach. One can't fire it in DA unless you drop the hammer on a live round, with safety model anyway, so to me that's a moot non issue.
If you have the BD or decocker than I can see the issue, but CGW sells a fairly cheap fix that moves the trigger back and at same time decreases trigger reset.

I have never even seen a cz97 at the ranges I belong too or at any competition. I do have three kimbers along with Colts and Springfield 1911 pistols.
The kimbers are by far the best built most accurate and reliable 1911's I own. Collectively I have over 70,000 rounds fired from my Kimbers. 20210302_192906.jpg

If the 97B grip size is a concern or if you just like finger groves, you can do what I did and add a Hogue wraparound grip for the CZ 75B (link: https://www.amazon.com/Hogue-Rubber-Wraparound-Finger-Grooves/dp/B000S5SCPM ) to your 97B. It's not a direct fit, of course, as the 97B grip diameter is understandably larger than the 75B, but this is easily remedied soaking the rubber grip in a pot of boiling water for about 15-30 seconds, drying it quickly with paper towels, and then placing on side in the grip, screwing it down and stretching the grip over the front to the other side and screwing it down. The resulting grip is smaller and certainly a vast improvement for me over the wood grips that came on my circa 2002 pistol. A wonderful gun made a bit better for my hands with this rubber grip for excellent purchase on the gun.
