Hi guys, I've wound up with a Czech VZ 12/33 Mauser, 1937 El Salvador rifle. It measures 7 7/8" from action screw to action screw. Also the barrel shank is 1.10". The receiver ring measures 1.400". It is stamped on top of the receiver ring "1937." On the side of the receiver it says " CZEKOSLOVENSKA ZBRO", then the rust obscures, then says "BRNO." You can't see the word BRNO in the pic.
So, is this a true large ring 98? If it wont group, or the headspace is off, and I decide to rebarrel it, will it be safe for modern calibers, or should it be kept to 7x57mm levels?
Any info appreciated.
