Hi all,

I am looking for my first CCW piece. I've tried lots of different guns, and settled on a semi-auto in 9mm. While I like the DA/SA trigger of a Sig, I really don't care for it's long reset and slack to take up for the next SA pull. I *do* really like the trigger (reset and all) of a Glock, but am currently not 100% sure I'd be comfortable carrying a Glock.

I would like to know if there are any DA/SA pistols out there that offer the nice short reset of a Glock trigger.

Please refrain from replies like: "Just get a Glock" or "Just learn to shoot the Sig". On topic replies only please.

Thanks!

Chris

I'm not sure what you are looking for exists. It's like squeezing an apple and expecting orange juice to come out.The basic design between single action and double action is the problem.:(

I wont say "just get a glock", but learn not to put your finger on the trigger, untill your ready to shoot. I like the fact that on a Glock, there is no manual safty to forget to take off, in a panic. I'm selling a gun with a long, awfull, trigger, and upgrading to a G19:D

The short answer is "No."

The longer answer is "You can't have a DA/SA pistol with a reset that is as short as a Glock, because its not feasible to have a DA/SA ignition with a reset that is as short as a Glock's reset."

The proper anser is "If you want a short trigger reset, get a Glock or a 1911."

+1 on what modifiedbrowning said. I would go to some gun shops and/or a gun show and try to find a Walther P99 AS 9mm or a Walther P99c (compact) AS 9mm (if for conceal carry, you might want the smaller P99c model) and dry fire one. I'm a big Glock fan and the only DA/SA type pistol that I ever found or tried that came the closest to the Glock's quick and crisp trigger reset is my Walther P99 AS 9mm. I was truly amazed and still am with it. It's a great pistol. I'm looking for a P99c AS 9mm to go along with it (that's how much I like the Walther P99/P99c AS series of pistols).

I have a S&W 908S and a 4516, both traditional DA autos. Their trigger reset is very short.

I'm wondering how the SA of the DA/SA USP is (not the LEM or whatever)

anyone have any input? I've shot sigs and berettas, both had heavy DA pulls, with tremendous amounts of takeup on the SA pull. The Sig was better, decently short reset

I'm looking at a USP right now...

I'd venture to say that my walther p99 a/s reset is shorter and nicer than that of a glock. The 3rd gen metal s&w semi autos I've shot also have a very short reset. I also have a da/sa p226 and HATE shooting it because of its long reset so I very much understand what you mean. Its been a while since I've shot a USP but I recall it being pretty long too.

Thanks for all the feedback, guys. Of the suggestions mentioned above, which one(s) have the least amount of take-up (slack) in the SA pull before resistence is felt? Thanks!

Chris

S&W autos SA reset is actually quicker than Glocks. S&W's is one of the quickest on the market.

Uhmm... no?
The new short reset on the 226 Elite is comparable, the Walther P99's reset is also comparable.

Of the traditional DA/SA autos, Smith & Wesson's is probably the shortest reset. Standard Sig is pretty long. I've never heard of a 226 Elite. Something new?

Can anyone answer this:

Of the suggestions mentioned above, which one(s) have the least amount of take-up (slack) after the reset "click" in the SA pull before resistence is felt?

To me, the Sig reset distance seems ok, but it's the amount of slick in the trigger after that (before resistence is felt) that makes me not like it.

Thanks!

I'll second this. The reset on all of the 3rd generation S&W autos is quite short. You should try one out and see if it's what you're looking for.

Actually, that would be the "wrong" answer...

Yes, indeed...perhaps the quickest...

...and a Smith & Wesson Model 39-2 will put a Glock's reset to shame.

I used to have a DA/SA SW99 .45 (same trigger system as Walther P99 AS) and I found myself doing a three round burst once when I was trying to only let up on the trigger to the reset!

It was like "Bang...Bang...Bang...BANGBANGBANG" Scared the hell out of me at first. Worst of all it happened when I was shooting qualification for my job!:uhoh:

+1 for the P99 AS

I'm pitching it to my agency precisely because of the speed of the trigger reset and its DA/SA capability.

There is none on the s&w or the p99, the sig feels like a mile after the reset.

New SIG short reset DA/SA

John Farnam is, as we speak, attending the 2007 Shot Show in Orlando, Fl.

John says, in his latest Quip:

Light, short, handy! The 229, 226, 220, and 239 in
the manually-decocking (DA/SA) version will soon be available with SIG’s new "
short reset" trigger. It is a vast improvement over the old system. Second
shots are now available via a significantly shortened reset, and the reset
itself is distinct and crisp. This represents an important product upgrade!:)

Personally speaking, I don't know why I'd need to fire the current SIG SA/DA pistol any faster than it's capable of already, though I'd like to try the new, above mentioned, pistol.
