Hi, I'm new to the world of double action semi-automatic pistols (being a long time 1911A1 type user). I've just bought a Taurus PT92 and I have a question about the decock feature. I know it's going to sound like I'm trying to start a flame war between safety features - but that's really not my intent, I am just looking for information.
When I load a magazine, and then chamber a round, I can either put the safety on with the hammer in the full cock and carry it like I would a 1911 in 'condition one', or I could decock the hammer and then place the safety on and carry it something like a 1911 'condition two', the only difference being that with this gun I can cock the hammer with the trigger vs with a 1911 I'd have to manualy (with my thumb) cock the hammer. Seems to me I'm almost making the same choice between condition one and condition two with one of my 1911s except that I've always been taught that condition two is rather unsafe with a 1911.
Am I thinking about this correctly? and, Which is the safer way to carry a double action semi automatic pistol (condition one or two)?
Thank You
