Greetings,

What is the safest/preferred method of carry for the following pistols:

Walther TPH in .22LR-

1. Empty chamber, safety off, hammer down (super safe, but slow)

2. Loaded chamber, safety off, hammer in quarter cock notch

3. Loaded chamber, safety off, hammer full forward

4. Loaded chamber, safety on, hammer at decock

Beretta 950 BS in .25 ACP-

1. Empty chamber, safety off, hammer down (super safe, but slow)

2. Loaded chamber, safety off, hammer full forward

3. Loaded chamber, safety off, hammer in quarter cock notch

4. Loaded chamber, safety on, hammer at full cock

I tend to carry semi-autos on a empty chamber, but I am exploring other options. The 950 manual of arms is similar to a 1911, except that it is much easier to cock a 950 from "condition 2" than a 1911.

Thanks,

Hunter

Well the 22 Walthers is a mini PPK as I remember so round in chamber hammer down and safety off. Ihad a Iver Johnson TP22 and always carried that way.

Ive always carried the 950BS loaded hammer down. As I remember in early 80 's when they started makeing in America that was the perfered method by all the gun writers. I still carry one now and then and carry that way. Now I go and change outfits as all these people will be telling how wrong that is.
