Hey guys, new poster here. I did some searching, but I couldn't find much of anything on either the LH9 or the DP51. My problem is with an early (looks to be a '91) Daewoo DP51 that I picked up a few weeks ago. I got the gun home and it was filthy. The gun was extremely dry and had a lot of dirt on it. I field stripped the gun, thoroughly cleaned and lubed everything accessible and reassembled it.

I finally got to the range this week (woo vacation time) and fired it using some standard Federal 9mm and the first two mags went pretty flawlessly. After the gun got warm, it started to seem like it was "hanging up" for lack of a better term. Pulling the trigger would not cause the hammer to fall. It remained cocked back. Tap and rack and move onto the next round and it was okay.

I thought it was a fluke, but it continued to happen throughout my time at the range. I took the gun back to my hotel and disassembled it again, removing the grips. I noticed that the trigger bar(?) on the right side of the slide seems to be where the problem was happening. If the trigger bar was not snug against the slide, the trigger would be dead. I attributed it to loose grips, so when I got home last night, I loctited the grip screws and took it out to the range again this morning.

Same problem. Ran 5 different kinds of ammo through it, first two mags flawless, but once it started to get hot, the same problem happened. I experimented with it a few times. After the trigger went dead, I pulled down on the hammer and let it go while pulling the trigger. The gun fired and continued to fire until maybe 15 rounds later when it happened again. This time, I lowered the hammer down to try firing it in DA mode. Repeated trigger pulls in DA but nothing. I took the round out and noticed it had a light primer strike. Now I'm wondering if there's two separate issues?

The DP51 and LH9 have the unique "fast action" mode hammer, so I don't know if maybe something in there is fouled up? I'm not new to guns, but I'm new to this sort of repair. I can buy the whole hammer and trigger group from Lionheart and hope for the best, but I really don't want to throw $140 at a problem and just hope it fixes things.

Any help at all would be MUCH appreciated.

EDIT: I'll also note that I cannot make this failure happen unless I'm actually firing it. No amount of dry firing will duplicate it..

After a closer examination, it looks like in the DP51, the trigger bar rides on the very leading edge of the sear, meaning that there's only a very small area where the trigger bar actually touches the sear. It seems that the trigger bar is actually slipping off of the sear causing this failure.

Is this a common failure point on older pistols? Everything else I own (M&P, Glock, etc) is less than 5 years old, this is the only used pistol I've ever bought. I'd honestly be hard pressed to put a round count down since the barrel looks gorgeous, very little wear. The rest of the gun is kind of up for debate, though.
