Damn Rem. 11-87 fell apart on me :(

Greetings,

I just sold my Browning 425 because I'm buying a 525. In the mean time, I decided to shoot my Rem. 11-87 SC. After about 100 rounds, the magazine tube came out from the receiver. Needless to say, I'm not happy.

Do I just tap it back in place or does it need to be welded? Thanks for any help.

Tough luck, Brad. TTBOMK, the thing has to be brazed in place. Is it still under warranty?

If you were closer I'd lend you an 870 for the interim. That oughta hold up(G)...

I'd box it up and send it back to Remington. Just checked it out in Kuhnhausen's book and that's a factory service part.

That's also the first incident of that sort on a Remington I've heard of. All the 870/1100/11-87 series have the same attachment methods for the magazine tube, TTBOMK.

Thanks guys. I'll call Remington on Monday. I think the gun's about 3 years old, so I'll check on the warranty.

How do I remove the butt stock?

You take the butt plate off and then remove the nut on the end of the recoil spring tube that you will see when you take the plate off. The spring is going to do its best to shove the stock out and crack you with it, so have a good hold on the stock and the hole in the stock pointed away from your face and body. Do NOT over tighten it when you put it back on or it WILL crack the stock. There is a torque value for them but it slips my mind what it is, the kuhnhausen book shoulld say if Al was kind enough to crack if open for you again. I remember it something like 25 inch-pounds.........
