got a question for those that know dan wessons.

I recently picked up a 15-2, with a 6" barrel which is doing some interesting things.

1. There seems to be a lot of endshake. lots, as in like .1 However, the spring holding the cylinder forward is in good shape.

2. Velocities seem crazy low compared to my other revolvers. I can see it in the targets, my wadcutter loads literally fold and rip the paper, rather than punch through

could this be related to the endshake? somehow the cylinder is sliding back somewhat and allowing that much more gas to escape. I've got the gap right on as per the .06 feeler gauge. and it's very consistent across the chambers. In addition, the accuracy is also fine, and there is no leading at all. Just really low velocities across all my loads.

I have not yet slugged the barrel however, I suppose it could be overly large. but I would also think that would cause leading especially with some of the hotter loads that run about 1000fps in my other 6" wheelguns.

My 15-2 had the endshake problem. Didn't have low velocity, but you could never set the barrel gap correctly. Recommended gap with the cylinder held back meant it was rubbing against the forcing cone when released. Would bind up after a few rounds. Recommended gap with the cylinder released meant spitting lead and flash.

I sent it to CZ/Dan Wesson at the Norwich plant, and they replaced the yoke. Fixed it right up. Don't remember the cost, but it was in the two hundreds with shipping. This was in 2011.

I'd recommend contacting DW.

There is a ball detent with a screw that can be adjusted on a Dan Wesson to fix end shake. Have you tried that?
