The company is a U.S.-based manufacturer of high-quality 1911s purchased a few years back by CZ.
The Dan Wesson Bobtail is a *very* sweet, *very* tight 1911 of the combat commander variety; but I see from their web site that they offer several other attractive models as well.
I am very happy with my Bobtail, zero FTFs after putting 1500-plus rounds through it. Accurate, well-appointed, reliable and reasonably priced.

He writes that they've gone downhill as CZ has pushed to increase their market share. I bought my Bobtail shortly after the acquisition.
For the money they are the best buy these days. Clean, simple, well put together 1911's that for some strange reason haven't gotten the recognition they deserve.
