Dangers of "Mexican Carry".

I carry half the times without holsters (one in the tube, safety off)..... or what you call mexican carry.

There are a few reasons why WE South Americans carry that way, to be truthful..... because some of us are either too lazy to go buy a holster or have to put one on and off or too cheap to buy one. Also, in South American countries, it is sometimes quite hard to find a good holster (not much to choose from). But really, the main factor for this carry is hot weather.... a holster normally requires a jacket or vest.

I think it's a good carry method and quite comfortable. I'm very fast at drawing from this carry method but I admit, I'm abit faster with a hip holster. And no, I don't think it's dangerous to carry this way. I been in scraps while carrying without holster. Only once, my gun slid down my pants.... but that was due to the fact that I wear semi baggy and I lost weight.... enough for my pants to be quite loose. All in all, my family crown jewels still hang with pride :).

I'd be really upset if someone who "Mexican Carried" accidentally shot my kid all because they did not have thier weapon properly secured in a holster.

I never worry too much about what some poor schmuck does to himself - that's his own fault - but if through his idiocy or stupid stubborness he hurts or kills someone else, then that's another story.

Mexican Carry

I carry a GLOCK 27 .40 caliber this way all the time........

I use a clipdraw and a TriggerBlok.............

The clipdraw keeps the weapon from sliding around or down your leg and the TriggerBlck snaps in behind the trigger and has to be pushed out with the index finger on your right hand......The trigger can't be used until the Blok is pushed out...........
The Blok stays up against your body, so there's no way it can come out on it's own......It is also adjustable and if you have the right tension set, the Blok is fantastic..........
To shoot the weapon, you pop the Blok out with your trigger finger........It doesn't take any longer to do because you push the Blok out as you draw the weapon.........
I carry the gun this way when I just can't use a holster, like when I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt............Other times I use a belt, paddle or ankle holster..........

There was one part, a guy is mexican carrying a glock in the front, and Jackie reaches in and pulls the trigger and shoots the guy in the leg...

sounds like the less on is more "don't put your finger on the trigger until ready to shoot" rather than "don't Mexican carry."

I mexican carry my Taurus 605 pretty much all the time, and here is why:

I am a big, big man. IWB holsters are exceeding uncomfortable for me. I know I need to make sacrifices to carry, but I don't think extreme discomfort is one of them. I do use a Uncle Mikes IWB pouch thing sometimes, and that works allright, although because of my size it is a cast-iron beeyatch to reholster without dropping my pants. Given that I need to take my gun out relatively often through out the average day because of work and school, it's an issue.

Second, It's a revolver. I can very easily insure that I don't blow a hole in my leg simply by keeping downward pressure on the hammer with my thumb when I stick it in my waistband. Auto's would be trickier, I suppose, and in fact I do not carry auto's in this style. Most will disagree, but I really can't see anymore danger in mexican carry than I would see in a regular IWB holster.

I'd be really upset if someone who "Mexican Carried" accidentally shot my kid all because they did not have thier weapon properly secured in a holster

Speaking only for myself and the gun I carry, I honestly have no idea how I could accidentally shoot yours or anyone elses kid carrying this way. I am not trying to be a jerk about it, but I really don't think it is physically possible....

Third, as mentioned before, I am a very big dude. Trust me fellows, that gun isn't going anywhere. I HAVE run and jumped with the gun in my waistband, and it was nowhere near falling out. Not to be gross, but between my fat and my pants, the gun basically has nowhere to go. I have carried thusly for a long time now, and I can't think of a situation that I would be in danger of losing my gun in, nor have I experience a situation in which I thought I was going to lose my gun.

Look, don't get me wrong, I know it isn't the best way to carry, and I am in no way advocating that someone carry in this style. However, it works very well for me. I use my Uncle Mikes pouch when I know I can carry for an extended period of time without having to unholster and reholster 20 times, but for those days that I do or for quick trips to the store, I mexican carry.

Sorry guys but shorts and tee shirts are not friendly to concealing holsters
Here in the Northwet, it can get rather toasty in summer. [It's all relative. I wouldn't break a sweat until it was over 90 back when I lived in Miami. 80 gets a bit overwhelming to me now.] Nevertheless, summertime I carry IWB with shorts and an untucked shirt. T-shirts work fine, but you may have to go up a size or buy tall sized stuff. I do.
