A Danish pizzeria has banned French and Germans from dining there because of their country's stance on a war with Iraq.

Aage Bjerre, who owns Aage's Pizza on the island of Fanoe, said he's tired of French and German attitudes toward the United States.

He's put two homemade drawings on the shop door, one a silhouette of a man coloured red, yellow and black for Germany and another in the red, white and blue for France.

Both silhouettes have a bar across them.

He says Germans will be allowed in if their country joins a war on Iraq, but the French will have to endure a lifetime ban.

Aage said: "Hadn't the United States helped Europe in defeating Germany, there would have been photos of Adolf Hitler hanging on the walls around here."

The ban has yet to effect his business because the tourist season only starts after Easter and peaks during the summer. "I do what my conscience tells me to do," he said.

He added: "Frenchmen have a lifetime ban here. Their attitude toward the United States will never change."

Darn good deal...

makes me right proud of my Danish blood. It annoys me to no end that the very people whose fat we pulled out of the fire are the very first ones to side with the thugs when we could use their help.

Oh well, no loss. Someone once said that "not having the French as an ally is about as disconcerting as not having an accordion along on a deer hunt."

My sentiments exactly.

I wonder if they deliver?

Wonder what his bottom line would look like if all members of THR ordered a delivery?:D It probably wouldn't be worth eating when it got here but the gesture would be worth a 1000 words. Anyone able to get an address or phone number?

another in the red, white and blue for France
Do you suppose we could get the frogs to change their national colors? This ban might be misconstrued to mean Americans. :D Maybe France could go to red, white and YELLOW.

Glad I'm 1/4 Danish! Many European countries are on our side on this one. Its just the big ones that seem to hold out more, and the French are universally disliked too. Its funny to see things like this.

Early in my Army career, my unit would sometimes train in Denmark. People lined the roads to wave and cheer at the convoy like we were liberating the country.:)

Of all the places I've been in uniform, Denmark was by far the most positive toward Americans.

Here is a link to a Danish newspaper with the story. Don't suppose many of you read Danish, though :neener:

This is a picture of the man himself:

Maybe The Frogs should just change their color scheme to ALL yellow..............

Always knew I liked the Danes for more than just the re-patriated M-1's and Ball M-2 formula ammo, but couldn't put my finger on why, till now.:D

PLEASE do! :neener:

He might really appreciate letters and calls of support from supporters like me!

An email address would be great too.... :)

Okay. That would be:

Aages Pizza
Valdemarsvej 14
6720 FANø
DENMARK

Telephone number from the U.S. is 011 + 45 + 7516 1122
(10:00 AM Eastern Time is 4:00 PM there, and it would probably help if you spoke Danish.... :D )

No Fax.
No email. :(
No Homepage. :(

Neil Boortz had him on today, but I missed the interview.

Danes are very likely to speak English, and that he was interviewed on the radio here probably means this man does as well.

Boortz is considering flying him over for a expenses paid vacation.

I'm not big on pizza overseas (with the exception of England, I like to try the local cuisine), but that's one pizzeria I'll go to.

What a nutcase.

I could as well boycott <insert country here> products because it's administration doesn't

1. liberate North Korea
2. negotiate a peace in Sudan
3. end Israeli-caused violence in the occupied territories
4. bring up a solution for the ongoing civil war in Colombia

or because it

1. trained and armed the Taliban back in the '80s
2. supported Saddam in his war against Iran
3. stepped out of the Kyoto treaty
4. supported dictators like Pinochet

and so on...

I don't buy the "If you don't absolutely agree with us to the fullest possible extent then you're our enemy"-ideology.

Now go ahead and call me a piece of euro-trash. I'm sick and tired of arguing with people who think we are the dark side of the force just because we dare to have a different opinion about certain things such as the question when a war is justified.

I support my government's effort to find a solution that doesn't involve all-out war.
