Today I went to Natchez's website to look for reloading primers and on their homepage it reads:
Effective 06/28/2022 FedEx will require a valid governmentment-issued photo ID for Hazmat deliveries. https://www.natchezss.com

I followed the link to FedEx's website and sure enough they are going to start scanning your ID as proof of delivery. It also says, "Our software does not record any other personal data (e.g., driver's license number, phone number(s), birthdate, home address, etc.). However, capturing the recipient’s first initial and last name is part of the existing proof of delivery process for all signature deliveries and will be retained only as long as necessary." https://www.fedex.com/en-us/delivery-options/signature-services.html

How long will my personal information be "retained only as long as necessary"? It makes you wonder if this info is shared with other agencies. How easy is it hack/access this data from FedEx?

This means any ammo, primers, powder, or other hazardous materials will only be delivered by FedEx once they scan your ID and it is retained in their software. Maybe I am over reacting but does
anyone else see a problem?

I am not a fan of this.

That is not quite what this is about. It's about adult signature required and FedEx making sure delivery is to an adult. FedEx is going to have the sender and recipient information anyway so if Natchez (or anyone else) ships you a million primers the data is out there anyway. Hell, here in Ohio if someone buys cigarettes they scan your drivers license or state ID. FedEx goes on to cover:

What if I do not want to have my ID scanned at delivery?
If you decline to have your ID scanned at delivery, your age will be verified by the driver by manually entering your date of birth. The driver will also manually enter your first initial and last name.

It's about age, that's all it's about. If I order booze it requires an adult signature. Also as mentioned above:

Can anyone 21 years or older accept my adult signature required for package delivery?
Yes. Any individual 21 years or older who is not visibly intoxicated at the delivery address may present their ID for age verification and accept your adult signature required delivery.

Adult signature required means just that, someone over 21 years of age to rake delivery. Personally I would not worry about it. Then too, if it concerns you don't buy anything gun related that requires an adult signature. Myself? I am not about to worry about it.

I just received a fed ex box and asked the driver. He told me that the scan is to save time, especially for future orders, and if I chose to not have it scanned, they will manually enter name and dob. It is the world with live in, and I guess I am not as concerned as I probably should be. Does fed ex actually know what's in the box, other than something 'hazardous'? No, but I bet they will be reporting to the feds if someone receives x number of hazmat packages or x number of lbs. Like 600$ bank transactions
