I have a Winchester Stealth that I purchased a number of years ago when I heard Winchester was closing the plant. It's been a great rifle, my most accurate actually.

I've wondered when it was made but can't find any data for model 70's made in the 2000 time frame. Anybody know where to look this up? Serial is G23674XX. Appreciate any help.

There are no reliable online sources for guns from that era. None that I've found anyway. But I have a rifle that I know was made in 2006, last year of New Haven Production with SN 246XXXX. Based on that and your SN my best guess is 2004 or 2005. The guns with 7 digit SN's started in 2000. I think, 6 digit SN's are from the 1990's. I think you may find some hardbound books with better information. But as far as online info I can't find anything reliable on Winchesters made after 1968. I did cut and paste a date code for the new FN rifles that was posted by a member on another forum. As far as I can tell it is accurate.

Thanks for the replys. Somehow I knew jmr40 would probably have the answer. This was a rifle I bought when I heard there were not going to be anymore model 70's produced. I purchased it right after the announcement of the pending close with the intent of using it for long range shooting. I never pursued that way of shooting and this rifle just sits in the safe now. Total round count is 60 since I've owned it.

I remember it was said QC was hit or miss at the time. I think I got a hit. This rifle (.308) is the most accurate one I own. The first shot through a cold barrel is pretty much no different then any other shot, this rifle just plain shoots. I usually pull it out once a year and take it to the range to put a few bullets in a target. The barrel does say New Haven, CT.

But I always wondered when it was made. Again thanks.
