She bagged her first buck at 75 yards with the Savage 110 in .243 using a load of IMR 4350 under a 100 gr Hornady Interlock bullet this morning here in West Virginia. She hasn’t hunted with her .243 in 10 years so we blew the dust off, built a load (she previously bagged 2 does in the past using Winchester factory 100 gr PP) sighted in this fall and here’s the results.

AWESOME!!!

Her boyfriend took her .243 out the next day and shot 2 does with 1 bullet. Same stand, same shooting lane when he hit a doe and dropped her. When he went down to recover the dead doe, he realized there was a 2nd doe down as well. Appears that the first pass thru bullet clipped the one beside the 1st and broke its back. I had to dispatch her with my sidearm.

Congrats to your daughter.
Mine has killed a few does, also with a .243, but is still looking for her first buck.

How did the 100 grain Interlock perform? I have a box of them (no idea where they came from). Haven't tried them yet.

Her deer went 30 yds with a double lung hit. Her boyfriend’s shot killed doe #1 DRT with a double lung hit and took out the spine of doe #2 quite handedly with a big wound channel. As for grouping on paper, it’s an extremely accurate load with IMR 4350 out of her Savage 110. No plans on trying any other bullet/load combinations in her rifle anytime soon.

Our current loads are IMR4350 as well with a 100 grain Partition. Those bullets aren't easy to find right now though, and even when they are they're over double the price of Hornady and Sierras.
I've got a box of 100 grain Sierra Pro Hunter soft points and a box of 100 grain Interlocks. I'll be trying them when we run out of what I have loaded. I think we have 15 or so rounds of the Partitions left.
I'm a fan of the Partitions, but darn they are proud of them. Sounds like your results have been good.

Did it leave a blood trail for your daughter's buck? Pass through?
