Won't go into details, but things have been a little strained with my daughter the last year. Major changes in both of our lives - new kid for her, new life for me. Enough of that...

She's at home by herself a lot, wanted some peace of mind for her and my precious 1 year old grandson. Took her shopping, came home with an Escort 12 ga. pump. Went to a friend's house out in the country, put about 100 rounds through the shotgun, another hundred through my SR9c, and 25 or so out of my Colt Police Positive (can't afford to shoot that thing much!!).

She loves to make things to "BOOM." Dad loves shooting with her. She's a safety nut and I'm proud of the care she takes handling guns.

She calls a lot now, and I'm helping her pick out a little revolver (had to twist that Colt out of her hands!!). Probably get her Taurus's little 9MM. Only if I can find replacement pink grips, though! :)

Coulda been anything of common interest, but just so happens it was guns that started mending fences. Can't wait to take her shooting again!

Edited to add: She'll inherit the Colt one day!

Congrats. I've always enjoyed being able to go shooting with my dad. Our gun interests are pretty much opposite ends of the spectrum (he's a hunter who shoots mostly shotguns - I'm a competition/target shooter who is mostly into handguns), but there's enough common ground there.

That was a great read...inspiring. We all know how important family is. Glad you have this new-found bond. Keep it up.

Consider yourself lucky guys. My father isn't into firearms at all. Come to think of it, we have almost nothing in common, but we do have a good relationship. I have 2 daughters here at home and another girl on the way. I can only hope 1 out of 3 will be into guns.

Might look around for a Taurus M380.. thats a .380 ACP revolver.. looks like the Colt. You can get pink grips at http://altamontco.com/products/pistol/taurus/revolvers.php (Taurus M85 fits)

Yeah, but 9mm is a little cheaper and since I mostly shoot the same round we can buy together in bulk and save a bit more.

Does anyone know...is the Taurus 905 built on the same frame as the 85? If so, Hogue has pink replacement grips.

I'm pretty sure it is the same frame as the Model 85. Have held both for comparison, not exactly scientific, I know, but an educated guess.

Yes it is exact same as 85! I have a 905 and my wife has a 85 Ultra-Lite.

Well actually my brother has my 905 right now because I couldnt pry it out of his hands....:scrutiny:

I will probably just get me another one! (Now I have an excuse to get the 905SS)....

I can not give that thing enough kudos....It Rocks! As well as the wife's 85 UL..I just love them...and I was shooting the 905 about 3 days a week due to cost of 9mm and being the same as 85 it made a good match for cheaper practice for the wife.

I seen the new M380...I like it...but you could not afford to shoot it like the 905! I think .380 is ridiculous anymore..makes no sense...:cuss:

I was shooting about 5-10 rounds per day, 3 days a week in the 905, so $10.97 every two weeks to plink and stay in the groove!
(above any range time that came in) I would just get off work...shoot a few cans and go home!

Thanks for the info on the 905... I suspected as much. I really think, all things considered, that's the best choice for her. I simply cannot wait to shoot with her again.

Good news and good luck with the restoration.

Let her have the COLT...an investment with a great return...

I didn't think either of my daughters liked guns, until one's new boyfriend liked to shoot. We went to the range and she was dead eye with my Remington .22 bolt. Now she knows that it's hers when I'm gone...

That is great to hear.

My daughter(16yrs old) and I really enjoy shooting our Ruger MarkII. She actually asks to go shooting. Shooting has improved our relationship tremendously.

Tar Devil,

Keep your Colt.

Buy her a duplicate.

Nothin' says lovin' like having something exactly like Dad's.

I learned this from my wife...buy the female what she wants, not what you think she should have.

I have been putting a lot of thought into this as well. I have been through a lot of relationship changes this year, abrupt divorce followed by rapid re-marriage, and my new wife loves to learn about shooting. We are making long-term plans to make sure that we always have shooting activities to do with our combined boys. It is becoming what they always look forward to.

Nice story. Prayers for continued growth.
The key is the grandson, mentor him right.

I got a step daughter that is a convicted felon on probation, so no guns for her, the other step daughter and my biological son and daughter love to shoot with me.

Problem child relationship is tense at best, but our common ground is an interest in old Camaro's.

905 is a good choice. Mine like my 606, 357 and my 9mm CZ's and 1911's one of which is in 9mm.

Probably get her Taurus's little 9MM. Only if I can find replacement pink grips, though!

Just a suggestion........

That's just two of many configurations. Check out their website here:

Their 9mm hasn't come out yet, though. Just .32, .38, .357, .40 and .44.

US made, lifetime warranty and excellent CS. I don't know why it took me so long to become familiar with them.

I showed her the Charter guns, but those are 12 oz guns. I think she needs a bit more heft. She did like the looks!

Yes, they buck a bit, but the Charters do come with pretty good grips to deal with that. Certainly more pleasant to carry.

She needs to go with what she likes, for sure. Just thought they'd be worth a look, since they match her color requirements and are in the same price range as the Taurus.
