Has anyone seen this movie. I saw it at BB the other day but did not have time to rent it. It's suposed to be based on a true story of a group of black men who took on the Klan. The cover picture shows the men carrying AR type rifles.
If you have seen it is it any good. And what is the era of the incident.

Yes, the Deacons did exist, yes, it is a true story. I remember reading about the Deacons as a kid.Whenever I asked my grandfather what he knew about the Deacons,he would smile and not say a word.

Early '60's in LA and they have AR's?? That seems odd. When I lived there twenty years later I recall a lot of WWII vintage rifles and sporting models but no AR's. I suspect the film may have changed things for effect, but I would have liked to see more wood and less plastic.

Colt did sell AR-15s back then, and Armalite thier AR-180 also.
