Back in 2006, THR poster Nightcrawler started a little online fiction story here called Welcome Back, Mr. Nightcrawler. I jumped in with him, and even though we made it up on the fly, it turned out pretty darn good. Most of you guys really liked it.
The mega-online fiction thread http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=207390&highlight=correia
Fast forward a few years, my writing career was doing pretty good, so I talked Mike into fixing up Mr. Nightcrawler. So now a THR thread has been sold as a novel to a major publishing house. Dead Six is what Mr. Nightcrawler turned in to, only it is twice as big (and actually edited!) It is finally coming out at the end of September. A book written by THR members for THR members has hit the big time.
(and if I could get ever single registered member here to buy it opening week, we'd be #1 on the NYT, and the literati-elite's heads would EXPLODE! The fact my Monster Hunter novels stared on a gun forum drive them up the wall. Having a book actually written on a gun forum will give them fits.)
If you would like an autographed copy, you can get it here:
http://www.unclehugo.com/prod/ah-correia-larry.php There are only a limited number of these. Mike is still going to be in Afghanistan when the book comes out, so we signed a bunch of bookplates together first that are getting stuck into the front of the books from Uncle Hugos.
If you don't care about autographs, it is available from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/14...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846
or B&N http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dea...28?ean=9781451637588&itm=5&usri=larry+correia or it will be in most bookstores.
eBooks for your Nook or Kindle will be available here (with free sample chapters!) http://www.webscription.net/p-1472-dead-six.aspx
Nightcrawler is Mike Kupari. He is an Air Force EOD tech, currently attached to an Army unit and stationed in southern Afghanistan. This is his first published novel. Instead of doing book signings, he will be lumbering along in a bomb suit defusing IEDs on release day. Because he is that awesome.
I'm a former THR mod and plank owner. After Mr. Nightcrawler, I went on to write a whole bunch of books and I'm doing okay.
The syonopsis:
Michael Valentine, veteran and former member of an elite private military company, has been recruited by the government to conduct a secret counter-terror operation in the Persian Gulf nation of Zubara. The unit is called Dead Six. Their mission is to take the fight to the enemy and not get caught.
Lorenzo, assassin and thief extraordinaire, is being blackmailed by the world's most vicious crime lord. His team has to infiltrate the Zubaran terrorist network and pull off an impossible heist or his family will die. When Dead Six compromises his objective, Lorenzo has a new job: Find and kill Valentine.
As allegiances are betrayed and the nation descends into a bloody civil war, Lorenzo and Valentine must face off. Two men. Two missions. Only one will win.
I hope you guys like it. We plugged THR in the acknowledgments.
