I went to a pawn shop today to see what they had on hand. Lo and behold, I stumbled onto what I considered a bunch of great fixed blades.

BK&T Brute (kydex sheath)
BK&T Companion (kydex sheeth)
BK&T Combat Utility (olive drab nylon sheath with kydex liner)
Ka-Bar Kukri Machete (leather sheath)

All 4 for $140 cash out the door. All 4 looked unused but dusty and lint in the handle screws of the BK&T's. The edges of the blades were all perfect. No dents, no rolls, no dings. I'm going to take apart the BK&T's and clean out the lint and dust. I'll oil everything and put them back together.

So, Deal or No Deal?

They also had:

Ka-Bar Warthog
Cold Steel ODA
Cold Steel Kubon

I might go back for those.

KaBar will be coming out with the new versions soon and the Camillus BKTs will bring big bucks on ebay. If you're not collecting BKT/Camillus you could flip them for enough to buy 3 for 1 of the KaBars by next year.

hso,

You're starting to make me have second thoughts. The knives didn't come with boxes. How much will that lower the prices?

Here's some pictures of the knives.

RF23,

That will hurt the max price you could have gotten for them, but you should be able to get 1.5 to 2 X what you'd need to purchase the KaBar versions.

I'd sell them before word generally gets out about the KaBar deal while folks are still desperately buying them for troops headed to the The Sandbox.

.

I like all of those except the Brute. Don't really see the need that such a
knife meets. $140 for all is a DEAL.

My favorites from the group are the Campanion and the Warthog. Stout,
well-sized knives which are very useful.

whited,

I haven't used it yet but I bet the Brute is a heck of a chopper. It is much heavier than you think it will be. There is also a spot on the spine for you to baton the knife through wood.

I've got one of the original Brutes and I've raved about the thing's performance. If not the better of, at least the equal to a kukri.

hso,

What's the difference between the original Brute and the one I have? Or do you mean future versions by Ka-Bar?

Ethan first produced the Brute on his own and then Blackjack became the manufacturer followed by Camillus and soon to be KaBar.

I've got an original from Ethan I don't use, a Blackjack that I've beaten the daylights out of things with, a Camillus I just put away for sentimental reasons. I will get the KaBar version when it comes out and I'll flog the daylights out of it to see if it holds up.
