So assuming the Dem's are on the verge of taking control do you think Dealers are going to sit tight on their AR's & AK's or push to clear their inventory. Panic buying could clear a certain amount but as a working stiff I know I don't have the loose change to grab an AR at current prices, nor will I anytime soon. If the Dem's get their way it will be nigh impossible to see the type of EBR sales we have been used to. It will surely be ten times more restrictive than the last ban. Could we see a price drop?

Why even make that assumption? There's still a year and a half to go until elections. Price NEVER drops when there's a panic. There's always an increase because demand increases. If you wait a couple months, I'm sure the "Ban Profiteers" will start popping up on THR with their, "What should I buy now to trade for more money later?" Posts. I would personally encourage all THR members to not entertain someone who tries to make a profit of off unconstitutional restrictions and subsequent miseries.

Also, for what it's worth, before this thread gets closed (as it probably belongs in the now closed L&P), we're actually WINNING the 2A fight and have been for some time.

The price on these weapons has been going up. I visited a local gun shop at the beginning of the year, looking at ARs they were selling them for around $800+/-, various brands. A couple of months back I checked on them again, and they all started a $1000 and up.

I was in another gun shop and this guy came in with his buddy and bought 4 SKS hoping the dems would pass a gun ban so the price would go up. Jerk!!

I'm pretty sure AR-15s have the serial # attached to the lower only. Therefore, you can get a stripped lower for about $200, and that *is* the weapon from the gubment's perspective. Everything else, like the barrel is just parts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please, because I'm planning on just picking up a lower to be prepared for the new 'same as the old boss' president.

Not gonna correct you, 'cause I'm not sure. But I THINK (always a bad proposition) that last ban (or possibly the latest bill) has working that the gun has to be fully operational by "X" date. How they prove it wasn't or how you prove it was... I got no clue.

The price will go higher for the dreaded black rifles the closer we get to the election especially if it looks like a dem. win, you are right the ar-15 has the serial number on the lower, the ATF decided that the lower if made prior to the effective date of the ban and it was registered as a complete gun was considered a pre ban but if the lower was only registered as a lower and not a complete gun it was a post ban and had to conform to the post ban regulations. So if you buy a lower it has to be assembled and registered as a complete rifle before the new ban. But that is probably going to be a mute issue this time because the dems like to make things retroactive so they will just out law all of the dreaded rifles no matter when they were produced.
I have actually heard they plan on including all military rifles and their look alikes, including M-1's, M-1 carbine, etc... I hope this isn't true for one thing it would be very hard to do. Then again so far I have heard very little from the dems as to what their policy will be on firearms for that matter I have heard very little from the Rep.

I would say if you have the change for half an AR then get that and some magazines now. Then you can save your pennies and look longingly at a half-baked rifle for a good long time.

If prices are rising now it is due more to increasing material costs and the declining value of the dollar than it is to potential monkey business in Congress. Prices may have gone up a little but the potential for gun bans doesn't have that much to do with it right now, IMHO.
