Why so you can pay $1000 plus?

Dan Wesson is jacking the price of all their 1911s over $1000. The lowest priced one is the Guardian which is discounted to $1050.

If you want a $1000 custom Hi Power there is nothing stopping you. They are everywhere.... here are too both cost well under $1000 with the base gun and were done by nationally recognized smiths.

I'd love an Armscor HP, around $400-$450, with features similar to the Tactical 1911 - that is, good sights (Novak clone maybe?), big safety (not the little tiny impossible-to-use original configuration) and a no-bite ring hammer.

Yep. That'd make me happy.
