The answer is no, no new gun control laws.

Even after James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on Republican members of Congress, the answer is no, we are not open to a discussion on more gun control. Nor will we be.

Gun owners gave up some of our rights with the National Firearms Act of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968. What did the left give?

In 1989, President Bush banned the import of various firearms. the ban is still in effect. What did the left give?

We gave on the Federal Assault Weapons Ban. Without much of an outcry from Democrats, the ban expired in 2004. You had your assault weapon ban, and you let it expire. Do not cry about sour grapes more than a decade later.

After the Brady Bill was passed, now we have to go through a background check that is often delayed. As Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “A right delayed is a right denied.” Ask someone to show an ID to vote and the left flips out. What makes one right more important than another?

Here is the issue at hand: Gun owners have given, and given, and given, until we have nothing more to give. What has the left given? Nothing, that’s what. The left continues to ask gun owners to give up our rights, and we are sick and tired of it.

No more discussion on gun control, period.

We must remember that the most dangerous sociopaths and psychos have been adjudicated or taken off the streets.
One more unspeakable tragedy with terrible impact could give politicians in Both major parties the "political capital" they are waiting for, so they can remove more "sport utility rifles" and mags > 5 rds. from access by we little people (Non-VIPs).

If not possible on a federal level, then certain states will continue to increase restrictions.

And nobody should assume which party will have a majority within the House or Senate next year.

I think we are resistant to the "one more unspeakable tragedy" - we get them, repeatedly, and the result these days is to consider how to defend ourselves from it. There weren't a landslide of bills introduced to ban guns, what we got with the baseball practice shooting are bills introduced for carry, and a reminder we should have already passed National Reciprocity.

It pointed out, again, that there are anti gun strongholds which are impeding our right to carry nationwide - and that criminals of any stripe will disregard the laws with impunity. They don't care if it's illegal - other than to flaunt their contempt.

One more unspeakable tragedy could well cause a pro gun reaction to stop those who are keeping us unprotected and vulnerable from standing in the way. It's just a possible.

Guns are not really a right-left issue (if you define right and left mostly in economic terms). In the current climate, a large portion of the left is having a "come to Jesus" moment and is now wanting guns for its own protection. We're going to see the political calculus on guns change because of this.

Well stated.

Of particular note...remember the AWB of 1994? What happened after that giant charlie foxtrot? All the legislators who voted for it lost their seats. They have an institutional memory, and as much noise as they have made over gun control since then, you notice none of it comes to the floor for a vote? It's all about making noise for Rosie O'Largebutt and the other loud antis. They talk the talk to satisfy their constituents, but when the rubber meets the road, they are scared turdless to actually do anything about it.

And in the interim, states are changing their laws to SHALL or MUST ISSUE for CCWs and there are now 6 states with Constitutional Carry, and most CCW holders can carry in 35-42 states on their own state CCWs.

Strides are being made. The next shift I see is a much more streamlined process for SBRs and Cans. Much like...fill out a separate 4473...or a 4473(A) with the can or SBR listed on it, collect the federal mordida at the shop level and walk out the door.

Things look pretty good for gun owners. Better than they have in a long while.

While the possibility exists there is always the ultimate No, Like no I will not comply.

They do. But that doesn't mean we should settle. We have to keep pushing. Lower prices are not enough. We need the definitive legislation to expand the freedom as well.
I never even hinted that we should settle. I was merely making an observation as to the overall reality of the "gun control agenda" in contrast to the histrionics that surround it.

I wasn't intending to imply that was your implication either. Just stating that while there have been improvements in our situation, it's only a small step. Albeit a positive one. And we should keep pushing for improvements while we have the upper hand.

If Democrats turned pro-gun then the republican party would eventualy cease to exist because they would not be able to win elections.
I have been telling Democrats to stop that gun control nonsense so some of them poor country folk would start voting for them. They will not listen and that is what I find so frustrating about them.
