Makes sense. From the article:

"Magazines holding more than 10 rounds were banned for 10 years under the Federal Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. "We cannot clearly credit the ban with any of the nation's recent drop in gun violence," the Department of Justice-funded study concluded in 2004. "Should it be renewed, the ban's effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement."

It didn't work the 1st time because the loophole of not being confiscated / mandatory buy back.

Just ask the last 2 CA AG's - VP Harris and Secretary of HHS Becerra

Tommygunn: Exactly.

My phone must have "corrected" my word distraction. Didn't have reading glasses on.

The iPhone's 'Nanny' functions really bug me sometimes------maybe this nuisance can somehow be switched off.

I’m not a fan of high cap magazines as I really have no use for them. Ditto for bump stocks. . They are banned in most if not all states in hunting scenarios and at the range a pain if shooting off the bench. Before you readers break out the noose Let me go on to say give these folks an inch they will take a mile, so in general it’s not something I’d support, but it’s one of the gun control issues that affect the least amount of folks. Makes no sense to win a battle then lose the war.
Af any rate these and other liberal tree shaking is going to force the SC to take a hard look at the 2nd. Can anyone predict the out come of that ?
My home state brings that high cap mag issue to the legislative table every once in a while so I make sure my rifles and PCC firearms capable of taking high cap mags are equipped with low cap ones as well.

Whughett, you are joking, right?

If not, you clearly have no understanding of the intent and written word of the Second Amendment.

The right (not privilege) to bear arms has nothing to with hunting or shooting off a bench.

Furthermore the standard capacity (not hi cap) for many firearms is over 10 rounds.

You are a gunowners nightmare. You really don't condone gun-grabbing but as long as it doesn't come to your door you're okay with it. Obviously you have no idea how many of us possess ARs, AKs and semi-automatic pistols which accept high capacity mags. It makes sense to win every battle and the war.

They don't but all they have to do is offer a reward for turning in people who possess hicaps and let the people do the work for them.

If they did that I know that my good neighbor to my south will be turned in by my liberal neighbor to the south west even though he has never seen what the other neighbor has in his gun room. He just hates the good neighbor.

Laws like this too easily become tools for the hateful.

There won't be any confiscations. They will simply make possession a felony and start nibbling. They'll prosecute every case they can until people decide getting caught is too much of a risk and turn them in, or they bury them so deep they may as well have turned them in. There's many tools that can be used to part people from their guns/ammo that don't involve a SWAT team outside your door.

Against all this sturm und drang we have court cases, notably in the Ninth Circus holding that such bans are unconstitutional.
And, that's an obvious and natural consequence of Heller & McDonald.

So, this may be the slack tide and the antis are desperate to dig deeper holes in the foolish belief the tide will ignore them.

Well I’ve been in this game since the early 60’s own many firearms of several types including AR’s PPC’s M1s and MI carbines, single shot pistols revolvers and semi autos and use them for a variety of purposes and cringe when some cowboy on the range is unloading a high cap magazine as fast as he can jerk the trigger, amid judging from the back stop dust puffs, not hitting much of anything. God bless him and his right to go Rambo.

I was around before 1968 and some of you folks better hitch up because the war is here and your going to lose a few battles if not the war.

Just trying to be pragmatic about what could be a bad situation.

Let's not get overwrought about this. These types of "AWB" bills are introduced every year. And they don't go anywhere. I don't believe this year will be any different.

Yeah. That'll fix 'em. Been around awhile too. There hasn't been a situation exactly like this before. Everytime you think it'll let up.
It hasn't. Just shifts gears. I don't know what'll happen this time.
I've never been classified as a domestic terrorist before.
I've never seen the amount of hatred between groups of AMERICANS.

Hadn't thought I'd ever see what's happening now...
:barf:
