The Marlin XL7 in .270 shoots really well for the price, and has a great trigger.
Worth a look. Check them out.

To my way of thinking the .270 win.cartridge belongs in the Winchester Featherweight . It should be rounded out with an M4 Leupold 4x
This is the perfect combo. ( just my opinion ) but I love mine.

A 270 bolt gun is on my short-list and right now I'm looking hard at a Savage. I really wish I could get a 24" or longer barrel though. I like Tikkas too, but the T3 I had was too light for my tastes. It was insanely accurate though.

I'd get a CZ, a Winchester M-70 (prob. the Featherweight Classic) or a Sako.

I think you'll be pleased with any.

But I'm sure that you'll like the Howa or the Weatherby version and the Savage seems to be a standout value. Not as fancy as the first I named, but very good, at a " value" price.

I'd avoid recent Remington guns, and I've seen many bolt handles on the M-700 turn an ugly plum color. The trigger system has also been reported on national TV to be unsafe, and Remington was advised of this as far back as the 1940's by the man who designed it! They have not,to my hearing, ever fixed it.

.270 WIN is a great round. As far as the gun goes, I have a Mossberg 100 ATR from Wal-Mart....basically the cheapest 270 you can get. lol. Never had any problems and is very accurate. Used it last year for prarie dogs up north and was consistenly hitting anywhere from 200 to 460 yards with my handloads with 130 gr. Hornady SST bullets over 45.5 grains of HMR 4064. I have to laugh at you guys that blame inaccuracy on the rifle. Its a steel tube, it's going to shoot the same every time(unless it gets over heated). Always seems like nobody is man enough to admit they just suck at long range shooting. I was at the range last week sighting in a new scope at 200 yards when the guy next to me was crying that the wind was too bad because he couldn't hit his target at 50 yards with his .22 mag. I just love how it's always the gun, the ammo, he wind, too bright, not enough light, too hot or cold, earth is too close to the moon....you get the point. It's never the shooter. LOL I just think it's funny!
