.270 WIN is a great round. As far as the gun goes, I have a Mossberg 100 ATR from Wal-Mart....basically the cheapest 270 you can get. lol. Never had any problems and is very accurate. Used it last year for prarie dogs up north and was consistenly hitting anywhere from 200 to 460 yards with my handloads with 130 gr. Hornady SST bullets over 45.5 grains of HMR 4064. I have to laugh at you guys that blame inaccuracy on the rifle. Its a steel tube, it's going to shoot the same every time(unless it gets over heated). Always seems like nobody is man enough to admit they just suck at long range shooting. I was at the range last week sighting in a new scope at 200 yards when the guy next to me was crying that the wind was too bad because he couldn't hit his target at 50 yards with his .22 mag. I just love how it's always the gun, the ammo, he wind, too bright, not enough light, too hot or cold, earth is too close to the moon....you get the point. It's never the shooter. LOL I just think it's funny!
